Was $700m Sunday. Doing better that Avatar2 domestically, which had the holiday advantage.

Almost! $872m. 37% drop from last weekend, higher for weekdays.
$100+m more next Sunday, just short of a billion on 4th weekend.

We always know Universal/Illumination brings home more bank than any other Animation studio but this is truly jaw-dropping.

I was not expecting such a huge hit. I guess it's for the love of Mario, not on the actual strengths of this movie.

Very much likely. I gave the movie a 7/10. Cheesy but most certainly not like the 1993 film.

It’s crazy. It had a $59.9 million weekend in its third weekend. A 35% drop. It’s an amazing hold. It has a chance of being #1 for a 4th weekend before the impending release of Guardians of the Galaxy. It also opens in Japan and South Korea next weekend, which will likely be its biggest international markets.
