I'm surprised JLaw is doing another X-Men movie.

I feel that she's already done with her character after X-Men: Days of
Future, yet she's still playing Mystique again. She became kinda useless in X-Men movies as she played enough for the same role.

Yeap, she is annoying

She's a professional. She signed on for a contract and is keeping her word.

After she made it sound like she was done with the franchise after Apocalypse, it was somewhat surprising to learn she was coming back for this one. Or... not really. She’s fulfilling her contract (get that paycheck!) and this is, in all probability, her final one along with the rest of the cast.

I always liked her as Mystique better than most people do/don’t. Even if she’s arguably phoning it in at this point, I nevertheless love watching her in these movies. To my mind, she was the perfect actress to take over the role.

Also seems likely she is potentially going to get killed off. The scene with the coffin is potentially her. Makes sense if she is done with the series and isn't planning on doing anymore after this. Finishing off her contract then going out with a bang maybe.

True. What’s interesting, is it was heavily speculated that Mystique was going to die in Dark Phoenix even before the trailer came out (thanks to an apparent leak). The trailer looks like it only confirmed this rumor.

Honestly, I’ll be pleasantly surprised if it turns out that is actually someone else’s funeral. But assuming it is Mystique, then I must agree this would be a fitting way to say goodbye to her character (I admit part of me doesn’t want to see it end that way). Just hoping the film delivers.

Of course, nobody who dies in a CBM is guaranteed to stay dead.

I thought Apocalyspe was the last movie for her. Not to mention there really has been way less hype around this movie, and doesn't seem to be getting much press.

Also with the Disney buying Fox. I doubt JLaw wants to get stuck in another multi contract movie deal if they take over the X-men movies and try and merge them into the MCU.

Honestly I can't really see who else they could kill off that would be more fitting and who would have a decent enough impact.

The trailer was shown on a talk show and they showed the first 15 minutes at NYCC.
