The movie's pretty neat and I like it alot, but... (spoiler)

The sneeze killing method was lame, cringeworthy and out of sync with the tone of the rest of the movie.

The tech depicted in the movie were kinda near future and quite realistic, like robot arms and very few autodriving cars. Most other cars used by regular people are still normal cars.

The chip in particular was a really new invention, inordinarily advanced, a breakthrough. So I guess it's quite makes sense.

Hell, why they even have arms implanted with guns if you can simply kill people with a sneeze. That's just ridiculously over the top.

It was lame and basically a throwaway. You could have cut the entire "killer sneeze" thing out and it wouldn't have made a difference to the plot.

reply

Agreed man. It was the one enhancement that really bugged me.

reply

Agree on the sneeze!
I also didn´t get how STEM could enhance the tattoo but needed the guy to draw it under the control of STEM for STEM to be able to read it...
But I liked the movie a lot overall!

reply

I don't the second point you mentioned as a flaw since STEM is the one who orchestrates the whole thing.

STEM needed the convince the guy that they have a lead to follow it worked. All of zoom-enhance bs could be made up by it as well.

The Sneeze trick seems to take some time (5 -10 secs?) to kill the target. So the gun implants would still be handy if you need something quicker.

But the sneeze sequence should have been cut from the film. It wasn't needed and opened up other implications and possibilities that the film didn't have time to explore.

reply

Yeah they could have left the sneeze out - why did the bartender need to die?

reply

Probably a bartender ever sneezed to the director's drink in a bar. So he was adamant that a bartender should die by a sneeze in his movie.

reply

Yes, I agree. It was like an alien technology compared to what else was going on.

reply

I cringed at he shotgun arm scene too like the guy cocks his arm. It was so stupid. Overall, somewhat saved by the ending.

reply

agreed, killer sneeze was lame... but it wasn't that big of a deal for me... pretty easy to ignore compared to what we usually see in such movies...
