Wonka was wonderful. Chalamet surprised me by being genuinely outstanding among a top notch cast. Story was great. Virtually no flab or scenes that just turn the wheels. All the songs were pitch perfect. (No surprise coming from Neil Hannon). The combination has me so in the moment that I was blindsided by the second act gut punch even though it had been set up moments before.
Perfect for all ages. Take your kids.
Still the vault scene should have been skipped, they should have concluded this without that scene. Without that scene, I had also not much to complain.
shareListening to the soundtrack now. The new songs really are very good. Not too long or overblown to satisfy some gratuitous spectacle. Just right for the story and the characters. Especially the clever wordplay and invention.
A World Of Your Own and For A Moment could both be Oscar nom material.
I loved it!! There was even a round of applause at the end in the cinema. Great acting from Timothée Chalamet, charming story, wonderful music and so vibrant and colourful. This is a feel good movie for the whole family to enjoy. Hugh Grant was so cute and funny too. :)

shareI'm skeptical, considering I've never found Chalamet superb in anything he's been in, but I am curious enough to check it out, so will do that and chime in later.
shareChalamet was fine. The character may have been a little too on the sentimental and nice side for me, and missed some of the zaniness that Wilder brought to the role, but that's on the writing rather than the actor.
I thought the girl Noodle was the weak link. She can't really act.
I liked it a lot too and thought he really resembled Wilder in many scenes. It was a good movie.
