I wouldn't be upgrading my phone, buying my new 82 inch 4k TV, (to watch the Purge, lol) or getting other luxuries. I'd be investing every penny into building Fort Knox or making my house completely impenetrable. Anything left over goes to buying the biggest and baddest fire power there is. When my house is a fortress and I have an arsenal then I start treating myself again.

As soon as my family is locked in on Purge night, I change the security code where I am the ONLY one that knows it. Not going to have that crap where my wife or kids can open the security doors and have me killed. Have whole family go through metal detector before getting into safe room. Kids these days might want to kill you or have you killed for taking their phone away, lol.

If my wife doesn't trust me or like my rules she can take a chance somewhere else.

Yeah, I don't understand how everyone's new reality is that they can just lose anyone in their lives every single year, and somehow the whole country is okay with it.

Did I miss something? Why would they simply not torch the house they were trying to get into and bake the people inside? I have to admit I didn't do a full on sit-down undivided attention watch of the movie so I may have missed the rational. All I saw was all crime is legal.

It's a crazy concept for sure. I've watched both movies and the TV series and haven't seen anyone do that yet.

At least go to another country a day or 2 before and come back after. Why risk it? Wonder if they will show people doing this on the show.

The purgers can still destroy your property, while you're away (and doing a 2-day vacation in every year can be more expensive than a one-time moving). It's also better to move from an oppressing distopian country to another one.

Someone did mention that their family was away, although I can't remember when it was. It is a good idea though. Just visit Canada. :)

That would probably be easier, lol. I live in Michigan just North of Detroit. Takes about 20 minutes to drive to the tunnel or bridge. Canada here I come.

A mansion with a deep trench filled with water and sharks with freaking lazers plus automatic sentry guns (with cameras + auto target lock) on the roof with lots of ammo for killing thousands of people. You then go abroad and watch your cameras via the internet... optional manual remote control of the sentry guns.
