I wished it was a flop

But sadly they are milking the remake cow and everybody is willing to pay (for the same story of 1989). I am so dick of all that remake, reboot, spin of, sequel, prequel making.
Not only at disney but that Trend seems to be endless...

PLEASE HOLD FOR A POST FROM HELLOSIDNEY EXPLAINING HOW WRONG YOU ARE AND HOW MUCH SMARTER HE IS THAN YOU.

reply

Its not a question of who's smarter. You would understand if you were a bit smarter.

reply

🤣

reply

Kowalski prides himself in being belligerently ignorant.

He seems triggered that I'm 'flaunting how much smarter I am' than others when I'd be the first to say I'm not a smart man. I've literally tried to explain to him and others how the boxoffice works but they just say I'm full of shit, in place they offer no retort. They have no argument back, they merely say I'm lying. Not sure what else can be done really. They don't want to research the topic at hand, some of them openly display major ignorance yet act like they know what they're talking about.

reply

I SAID YOU WERE LYING?...THAT IS A LIE...I SAID YOU HAVE A BIG UNWARRANTED EGO AND YOU SPOUT OFF ABOUT BORING SHIT ENDLESSLY...FACTS,BRUH.

reply

Hollywood has their hands full of remakes for a long time into the future. First they remake every popular IP with CGI and then gives us another remake with woke agenda...

reply

OOH...WHAT A SHARP OPINION...GOOD POST.💪🏾

reply

It may open strong but it won't have any kind of legs at the box office.

reply

Why would you be sick of it when you're not compelled to watch the film? Why does the existence of the film trigger you so much?

Are these companies required to pander to your desires?

reply

I am just desperate because of the missed Potential of creating new stories with new characters....

reply

What has stopped you from adapting the original story and selling it to a production company to make a PG-13 of R rated version for teens/adults that is true to the 1837 story?

reply

@OP

The Genie has granted your wish. It's definitely a flop.

reply

It has made about 79% of it budget since the May 26th wide release. https://www.boxofficemojo.com/title/tt5971474/

reply

The 1991 version is over ten hours long with 26 episodes. I don't think this two hour film is a remake of Saban's Adventures of the Little Mermaid.

reply

Thank you. I corrected my Post.

reply

Seems your wish has come true. It will struggle to break even. But then, I don't think Disney was aiming at profit with this one, but rather doing their part to push their fringe narrative down the throats of mainstream audiences in an attempt to normalize their radical point of view just a little bit more.

reply

Every time a person claims they're being throated by someone or something, I get this image of a little bird in the nest waiting for a parent to shove food down its throat.

You don't have to be that way. You can be a functioning adult instead.

reply

Part of being a functioning adult is standing up to evil. You may be willing to turn a blind eye to it, but others aren't.

reply

What is the Disney radical narrative in regards to this film? Consent and black skin is all I ever hear from the snowflakes that are gnashing their teeth over this film.

Can you point at the evil and tell me what it is?

reply

Why are you so keen to argue? And why in such a disingenuous fashion? You know exactly what Disney is doing, but apparently you're in favor of it, but why play dumb? I get it-- you're fine with it, but you aren't going to bait me into some pointless debate by feigning ignorance. Let's just agree to disagree and leave it at that.

I'll leave you with a poem that is particularly relevant, First They Came by Pastor Martin Niemöller.

First they came for the Communists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Communist
Then they came for the Socialists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Socialist
Then they came for the trade unionists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a trade unionist
Then they came for the Jews
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Jew
Then they came for me
And there was no one left
To speak out for me

I ask you to point at something and instead of a direct answer, you respond with a question and more evasion. You are weak.

Disney made a film based upon a cartoon they produced in 1989 which was in turn a very loose adaptation of a 1837 short story. You are unable to articulate what is so offensive about Disney's actions and instead accuse me of playing dumb.

Why would anyone, ever, come for you? You are too weak to even make a concrete observation of the film and describe what it is that offends you so much, beyond some vague "fringe narrative" nonsense.

That you are a threat to anyone who might want to "come for you", is simply a delusion of grandeur.

reply

I don’t think Disney cares at all about making a profit anymore. They are a “too big to fail” company. They know the government will bail them out to prevent them from going under, so they can make bad business decisions with no consequences.

reply

Disney almost certainly budgeted for this film knowing it would be a loss. To their way of thinking, it's money spent on indoctrination, which to them is the same as a charitable contribution would be to you or me. They'll lose money in the short-term, but push their narrative for the long-term degradation of society. Eventually, to their thinking, what is now horrific to the majority will become tame.
