Brainiac Maybe The Main Villain Finally

Brainiac looks like the kind of villain Gunn would do, akin to Ronan The Accuser or Thanos.

It's long overdue but still seems a bit too recognizable for Gunn tbh. I can see him using someone like Ultra-Humanite or Cyborg Superman.

reply

I can't freaking wait for Brainiac to make his big screen debut but I hope he saves him for the sequel.

This seems more like Superman focused story. Less origin but more "trying to find his place" story.

Brainiac might not get to shine in that kinda story imo

Ultra Humanite would be dope. So would Metallo, parasite, Bizarro or even Livewire & Toyman. Or a combination of them

I hope he saves the "big guns" for the potential sequel.

reply

May not wanna save him for a sequel just in case there isn't one.

Brainiac could work in a Superman Earth One like scenario, could do something to his DCAU origin or like in SyFy's Krypton where stealing and bottling Kandor caused Krypton to slowly destabilise over time.

reply

I kinda see what you mean. Especially after the shitshow summer we've had this year. Not quality wise but in terms of Box office returns

Honestly, I have faith in James Gunn. He has made genuinely good Superhero movies/show so far.

Also, You Watched Krypton? That show didn't deserve the hate it got imo. Good sci-fi show. And Braniac genuinely looked amazing.

Especially on a "tv budget". That costume/makeup looked as good if not even better than the stuff we see on big blockbuster movies

reply

Yeah seen Krypton, Brainiac is one of the highlights, he looks like something Gunn could do, he be akin as mentioned above to Ronan The Accuser or Thanos or even High Evolutionary.

reply

Ya. And the bottling & introduction of Kandor could set up Supergirl

reply

Well Brainiac is not that well known in other media, he's only had two live action incarnations both in Smallville and SyFy's Krypton.

reply

I hope it's someone else for this film and Brainiac is used as the final villain in a couple sequels.

reply

Downside of saving Brainiac for a sequel is like with Superman Returns and Man Of Steel if the first film doesn't win most people over or break box office records they'll scrap all sequel plans with Brainiac.

reply

Yeah that's true, but if it's well planned out, get some good writers and a decent director it should be good. Worth the chance imo.

reply

Having Brainiac is too long overdue, it would be torturous and slow saving him again for a potential sequel.

Have like a DCAU like backstory or like in SyFy's Krypton where him stealing and bottling Kandor caused Krypton to slowly destabilise over time.

reply

That would be great if Brainiac was the main villain this time around. It would be nice to finally see a Superman villain other than Lex Luthor and Zod in a live action movie. I would also love to eventually see Metallo, Parasite, and Bizarro.

reply

Ya gotta have Lex running around doing something nefarious. But the big villain should definitely be one of the nuttier weirdo guys. In that I trust Gunn to really get it right. I don't want to see Zod on screen ever again. He's been done to death.
