shareThat was very confusing. My livestreaming was hiccuping, The NY Times said Best Picture: "La La Land"... Then I hear on my livestream, "Barry Jenkins." And the Times changes its Live Update to "Moonlight." What happened? Mismatch between the teleprompter and the envelope??
shareThey read the wrong envelope. Moonlight won best picture but they mistakenly announced La La Land as the winner at first.
shareThanks, Allaby. I watched a video of that moment, and noticed they ended up checking and apparently exchanging several envelopes on stage while they were sorting it out. PwC and the Oscar producers might want to revisit their procedures.

shareI thought I was clearly missing something. I swear I saw the La La Land people on the stage. A few moments later my livestream is up and running again, and I hear someone thank "Barry Jenkins." What??
At first I thought there was an extra category I didn't know about.
My goodness, at the moment I'm too mortified for the La La Land producers and company, and Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway to even think about witnessing such a misadventure.

shareYes,, it was fun! But now I have to worry about if poor Faye Dunaway is going to be burned in the press for saying the wrong name. Maybe she should have noticed it said "EMMA STONE - La La Land" not just "LA LA LAND" (??)
