Disappointing... (spoilers)

The opening shot is of a dead crow, that is being eaten, then gets literally run over.

This level of blunt writing gets us all the way to the series setup that coincidentally puts two brothers after the same goal, but at odds as to how they'll achieve that goal. This is further complicated by the former girlfriend being married to the guy they'll have to bring down ultimately, and the new potential love interest who is the best weapon to make that happen.

SOA became overly melodramatic in its last 3-4 seasons. The same tone is where this show starts.

I hope the Hispanic crowd likes it because this kind of comes across as a tough sell for anyone else. I'll give it one more episode, but it's got an uphill battle if it thinks I'm putting up with 7 seasons of this tripe.

Well, they have to do something besides ride around on their bikes, kill and torture people and talk about how bad they are.

The problem for me is that there are just no compelling characters that stand out and make you want to know what happens to them. I have yet to see any real charisma that makes any story, melodramatic or dull, worth caring about ..
I am not interested in just watching for fighting over turf and various torture.
And how, really, can it be anything but a paler retread of SOA... unless they make no one sympathetic, which is a dead end in itself..

I don't disagree.

How about putting the scruffy canine in a kutte?

I agree.. I watched, I wasnt captivated in the least. I might have daydreamed for a few minutes. I dont understand why Sutter just wont give us what we really want. The First Nine. Not one SOA fan would say no to that.. And they shot a few moments of Gemma in this show.. That only reminded me that Sutter , who is a genius, gave us The Bastard Executioner, which really sucked, and now this show. This show might be better, but so far I am bored. I dont care about any character in it, the women are typical, and the references to SOA , like the music, the crow, and GEMMA, is just getting on my nerves. Sorry for the rant. I just finished watching just now. Or dozing.. not sure which.

I believe the biggest part of this show's problem has to do with subtitles. I can see the non-Spanish speaking audience having an issue reading the bottom of the screen during certain scenes.

Other than that, Sutter & Co. must be doing something right if the ratings are through the roof.

are the numbers really THAT good?

It was when I wrote my original reply, but now that Mayans M.C. is going up against regular broadcast shows, the numbers are slowly dropping:

That's an American problem. No other country in the world has problems reading subtitles.

Well at least in Saeson 3, so far I am not enjoying the show as much as SoA, there's something off about Mayans, maybe it's the pacing or the characters, or that they possibly just rolled in a 'Juice 2.0' type character with one of the Mayans...
