So bascially Sons of Anarchy with brown skin?

The descriptions of the cast indicate this is the case. The same characters with Latino actors.

Sarah Bolger is the token white character who no doubt will have some asshole boyfriend she has to be saved from.

Its basically gonna be the same shit all over again isnt it?
Looking back at SOA there was so much that was just stoopid , unrealistic or unlikeable.
So unless I hear from others that its super awesome I wont be giving it a try.

reply

We can only WISH it was like SOA... Here we have a predictable story line with no pulling power. I wasnt invested in not one character. Ill give it a chance, but I cant understand why they went this route..when Sutter couldve just given us the First Nine.

After the first 2 episodes It's pretty much the same thing but with some Mexican flavor. then again there is only so much you can do on shows about criminal biker clubs.

So far, and I'm still on episode 1, it is.

You've got the president who even resembles him is some ways - if anyone could ever without that deformed face of his lol - and you've got the book reading, deep feeling, lost boy who pines for his ex, now with son, complete with brooding thoughtful shots and all that. You've got the guy who always brings things down to a salacious level, you've got the rest who fill in the blanks.

I guess they're trying to recreate SoA, but that denies it, itself, of it's own.

I'll watch a few more, but as said, it's not really grabbing me. It's like a fps game.. the sequel, where they do the exact same things, with different skylines.

but who knows. by the end of it, we may be wishing there were more, and brown jax adopts that random stray scruffy pooch, and leaves behind the sordid criminal life of the outlaw bikers, with his son and wife....

The show just gets better as you go through each episode. It was tough to watch in those early episodes, unlike Sons of Anarchy's first season, which I got into immediately, but this last half of this season has been fantastic.

Yeah, I've loved it every step of the way, thus far. Lincoln Potter has to be one of my favorite TV characters of all time.

reply

I wasnt crazy about the show, but I did watch it all. I loved the twist at the end, with Happy from SOA. Of course Kurt Sutter has a plan for the next series, and this was better than the Bastard Executioner , but still it just didnt grip me like I had hoped.

I really liked BE, as well. I guess I'm just a big Sutter fan, in general. Yeah, his stuff gets a little soap-ish, at times, but I don't mind. Not every show can be "The Wire" or "Breaking Bad". One can enjoy A-/B+ level shows too. I can, at least.

reply

Well I loved SOA so if thats soapish, bring on the suds. The BE lost me when they did all those special effects that were totally unnecessary. It was cancelled after the first season, but Mayans was picked up for a 2nd , I believe.

ps...I didnt know Jack Nickolsons son was the younger prospect, and that David Lavaro (Happy) lost his 16 year old son to suicide a few months ago. I really felt so bad about that. I am glad he was in the finale. It was good to see him.

reply

I know what you mean about the effects. To be honest, I was on the fence about them. I think the supernatural/religious happenings could have been conveyed without them. And, yeah, Mayans did get a 2nd.

I didn't know any of that, I appreciate the info. That's terrible. I hope that he, and the rest of his family, is doing well.
