That was a damn good movie.

I teared up at the end.

They really handled the character arcs nicely (especially the homeless man proving his worth and the workaholic protagonist realizing what really matters) and the song at the end was a perfect touch.

They also did a decent job of making the zombies intimidating without making them over-the-top powerful. All-in-all, an A+ zombie flick.

You're right. It was damn good. I can't think of any other zombie movie I've seen that was better.

reply

Yes!!! I highly recommend it.

I really got wrapped up in it. Yelling at the screen - telling the folks what to do.

What a wild ride.

Yes, the movie was as much about parenting relationships with children as it was about zombies. The main protagonist was struggling with being a father and a husband, the pregnant woman and her husband were just starting a family, hell, even the evil business man at the end was just trying to get home to see his mom.

And it was all nicely wrapped up when the little girl singing the song she'd learned for her father, Aloha Oi, was ultimately what saved their lives.

A+ is right.

reply

To all of the above, yes. A great film in many ways.

same here. The best zombie movie. especially while he was reminiscing on his lovely newborn.

Where was the arc of the homeless man?
Did i watch another version where all the scenes with him talking were cut out, he was straight up mentally retarded.
He had no arc, no character, no journey, no purpose.
He was useless.

reply

He went from being looked down on as less than human by everyone except the little girl, to proving himself a hero in the end by sacrificing his life to save the girl and the pregnant woman.

The audience underestimated him, the same way the characters in the movie did, and then he proved everyone wrong by showing his worth in a shocking display of courage and selflessness at the very end.

The character was effectively used to send a message that every human life has value, and that people may be capable of more than you might think.

reply

He realised that he was a useless and failed human being, so he killed himself to make his life at least matter a bit.

I loved it !!! ..... heard good things about it and was not disappointed at all :)

Too long, though. Some of the special effects looked really bad as well. The emotional scenes were a little too melodramatic like a K-pop drama. A few annoying moments like people freezing up about 50 times. Otherwise, not that bad.
