**That one death** Spoiler

The baseball kid getting murdered was very unsettling ... I watch tons of horror films and I do not mind kids getting killed in horror films but this particular scene for me was a little hard to watch..

absolutely agree. It was so much more intense in the shining. that is why the shining didnt have to show these things it left it up to the viewer. Thats why the shining is so far superiour to this.
Had the same feeling for little George in "It" - this scene ruined it for me as well.

Movies lately have shied away from brutalizing kids, I think (though not sure where TV stands on this). So, for me, it's just been that long since anyone was bold enough to include a scene like this, with a kid suffering to this extent, that it was affecting for me also. The last scene I recall that was even close to this painful was probably Haley Joel Osment in The Sixth Sense, when he's locked in the closet by the bully at school.

It's much worst in the novel. In the book, they torture him so bad that he rips his throat from screaming and can only utter these little bark sounds as they continue torturing him. He actually begs rose to kill him at one point and she continues to torture him to his little barking sounds.

It was done very convincingly. They didn't even show any of the gore, but you could hear what was happening.

One of the harshest death scenes I've seen, yeah.

Reminded me of a movie Kevin Zegers did when he was that age or about. "Bram Stokers Shadowbuilder". Kevin's character is tied spread-eagled to an altar as a sacrifice to the demon. Kind of intense.
