Wish the show would stop forcing us to like Kate with Philip

The chemistry she had with Toby was so much stronger. Kate and Philip feel so forced. I can't buy their love story even if Philip is a good guy. I can't buy that Kate loves him enough to marry him.

reply

They have ZERO chemistry.

reply

Thank you! Exactly! Any time I hear Kate say how much she loves Philip, I cringe.

reply

I agree, no chemistry at all. Plus there is no real development to show us how or why they got together. It only makes me feel worse for Toby.

reply

Agree. Although given the back story that Phillip gave for himself (i.e. with his 1st wife being blind), he seems to have an affinity with people who are disabled and Kate falls into that category. I can’t stand her.

reply

There's no way any guy would marry a girl that huge with no money. And she gets married not ONCE but TWICE on this show!? GMAFB.

reply

I just don't like Kate and all she did with Toby was drag him down.

reply

That's why I wish he was the one to end it instead of Kate. They really villainized Toby.

reply

I stopped watching last season, it all just got too much not just with Kate but everyone. Toby just wanted to be in love and enjoy his life. Kate always wanted something else to fill some gap inside her.

reply

Kate always wanted something else to fill some gap inside her.

I trust you're not talking about Kate's THIGH GAP, because she's never had one!

reply

lol ewwwwww they would be some seriously chaffed thunder thighs!

reply

Why did they even go there? Guess they ran out of story ideas for Kate to make her relevant for one more season. So they just threw in the old blow up the marriage chestnut.

Seems like this show always wants to show Kate and Kevin struggling as adults, while making Randall the most stable and grounded sibling.

reply

Yes exactly! Randall has gotten everything he's wanted. Why, because it would look bad to show a black guy struggle while his white siblings thrive? Why couldn't they all struggle equally? And I hate that they dragged out the Toby and Kate fallout. I was hoping there would be a twist that Kate and Toby would get better together and that the wedding was her renewing her vows with Toby. But instead, they really did break up. There's no way I would be able to rewatch any of these episodes knowing the outcome. And you would think the writers would be smart about the pacing considering it was their decision to end the show.

reply

Yes— and the fact that Kate and Toby broke up was Kate’s decision. They could have worked it out. But the show focused only on the Pearsons getting to have NO LIMITs. Screw everyone else. I mean, Kate should have moved to San Francisco when Toby wanted to. He had a great job and wanted to make a life for the family there. What was wrong with that? Meanwhile, Kate gets to live her dream of creating international music schools for blind children. Guess that keeps her home to be with her kids—- NOT!

reply

She should have moved for Toby. But I guess she didn't love him enough.

reply

She was jealous because he lost weight and she could not. IRL, he was wearing a fat suit at the beginning.

You would think it was because she needed to be with someone who also struggled with weight-loss, then she goes and hooks up with a skinny minny.

reply

They did show Randall struggling with anxiety in Season 1, when he quit his job and Kevin was there to comfort him.

reply

Don't you remember?

She fell in love with Phil and divorced her husband with 2 children after a stirring rendition of the classic karaoke favorite "I don't get down like that".

So much fun...

reply

Yeah what a touching moment :(

reply

Painful…🤮
