Another flop for Guy Ritchie

On a budget of 60 millions - projected to open at 6 millions.

Why do people still give Guy Ritchie such budget. I could not even finish trailer so boring it was. I didn't even heard of this movie until this article yesterday. They don't promote it much. I assume they know it will flop and don't want to lose more money on promotion.

Why does Hollywood still makes movies about WW2 and nazies? People are tired of them. It has been too many and nothing new they can say. That's why they flop.

Just because director is British doesn't automatically mean the movie is British, you idiot. LOL

Production

Paramount Pictures acquired the rights to Damien Lewis's book The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare: How Churchill's Secret Warriors Set Europe Ablaze and Gave Birth to Modern Black Ops in 2015. Guy Ritchie signed on to direct the project in February 2021, from a script by Arash Amel, with Jerry Bruckheimer producing the film. In October 2022, Henry Cavill and Eiza González were set to star, with Paramount no longer involved and Black Bear International now handling sales for the project. In February 2023, additional casting including Alan Ritchson, Henry Golding, Alex Pettyfer and Cary Elwes was announced.

Filming began on February 13, 2023, in Antalya, Turkey.

The day filming began, it was announced Lionsgate had acquired U.S. distribution rights to the film, planning to give it a wide release in 2024, and that select international distribution rights had been sold to Amazon Prime Video. A move that has been widely unpopular.

Black Bear Pictures is a media company that develops, produces and finances original content for film and television. Black Bear is based in Santa Monica, California.

Lionsgate Films (formerly known as Cinépix Film Properties) is a Canadian-American film production and film distribution studio founded in Canada, now a division of Lionsgate Entertainment headquartered in Santa Monica. It is the largest and most successful mini-major film studio in North America.

Didn't Oppenheimer almost make a billion dollars?

reply

Oppenheimer was not WW2 and nazies movie. It was about making AB and biography movie

PLUS NOLAN...PLUS HUGE ENSEMBLE CAST...PLUS BARBENHEIMER BOOST.

Guy Ritchie glorified war in A-Stan last year and this year its all about WW2. Both film flopped but he is granted the opportunity by the zionist Hollywood to keep the zionist propaganda going.

If you want original films look no further than A24 2024 has been solid so far.

Abigail and this are both expected to open around $10m, but Civil War $11m+.

Dunkirk and Oppenheimer didnt flop both featured the Axis powers.

Dunkirk was a rare success. And only because Nolan made it. And it was 7 years ago.

Not only WW2 movies. People are also tired of those Afghanistan and Iraq movies. Where they are all the same. Poor confused sad depressed American soldiers fight some faceless arab "enemies". Who run in the shadow and none has any name, face and personality to root against them. American soldiers cry, whine and try to overcome their "struggles" like they are in soap opera and not war.

We'll have to see how this does in the UK after some positiveword of mouth. It might do very well there. I do agree, I'm surprised they thought this would recoup a $60 million budget. His films just aren't those kind of blockbusters to expect $150mil+ in ticket sales.

So , after a little research, it looks like this isn't necessarily a flop..even before it was released. Evidently, Amazon paid a HUGE sum to keep this release in theaters only in the US. In Canada, the UK and other countries, it becomes a Prime exclusive, but they don't get an opportunity to see it in theaters. This is actually a good movie, and it will do well financially in a less traditional manner...which is starting to be a tradition, lol.
