Easily the greatest movie of the 2010s

and probably one of the greatest movies of all time. I thought he would never surpass The Dark Knight, or The Prestige, but this movie is just more epic. Right now it is Top#32 on IMDb, and it should move up.

reply

Most high profile movies with a built in fan base, ie comic book or films with star directors, tend to start off with incredibly high IMDB ratings the first week or two. Once these films get more away from the hardcore "fanboys" (who are more likely to view and vote early) and more into the general public, the IMDB rating tends to drop. It is more likely that Dunkirk will drop a bit rather than move up, but only time will tell.

reply

This movie will remain on Top akin to The Dark Knight

reply

This movie will remain very highly ranked, but remain on top "akin" to The Dark Knight? Given that almost all high profile films drop at least a bit after the first couple of weeks, my bet would be the rating settles around 8.5, putting Dunkirk firmly in the top 50, not top 10.

reply

.....Which would be insane in regards to the film's actual quality.

reply

It will settle in the 8's eventually. All the fanboys come out immediately to give it a 10 and then the haters and the regular movie goers come out to rate it. It will start falling soon.

reply

Yes, the score will go down. It started with 9 and now it's 8.6.

I am one of the biggest Nolan fans there is...I can tell you this is a great movie, its a bit better than Interstellar, however not nearly as good as Batman Begins, The Dark Knight or Inception.

reply

I liked Interstellar and Inception more.

reply

This is a very well made film with an important and emotionally gripping story. However, Dunkirk does not even best the best film of 2010, which is Nolan's Inception.

reply

I agree

reply

Dunkirk was a very well-made film, and very gripping, due to the story and the cinematography, as well as the way in which it was made, but, since 2010 was such an awful year for movies, I think that Dunkirk surpassed that year.

reply

It's a terrible movie. It's nowhere near one of the greatest movies ever made, I think this movie is a fine example of how the quality in movies has dropped over the years. The fact that this is considered good at all says a lot!

No, you just don't know what a good movie is,lol.

Look, someone's who lol's at their own unfunny comments.

Its rating has come down quite a bit. Must be from voters who have actually seen the movie and weren't prepared to loved it already.

I imagine there is also a broader audience for this, particularly in the UK, than Nolan's previous films. So the kind of votes it's getting are more diverse also.

Dunkirk was good, but it was not great in my opinion.

I thought that Dunkirk was a very well-done film, but it's certainly not for the faint of heart. I also think that Dunkirk is one of the few war movies that don't really glorify war.
