Wouldst thou like to see the world?

Now exactly how was the devil supposed to come through on that promise if Thomasin basically had to live the rest of her life in that forest? Just like the other witches who I”m sure aren’t going nowhere either.

I’m surprised no one here is asking about that. Where is she going to get a “pretty dress” & from who? Those ghastly hags running around naked? The butter part is easy enough, make it yourself. But maybe it’s just me but methinks he lied!

What? The Devil lied? I can't believe it!

For real.

Its possible that she would be able to have outer body experiences where she is able to astral travel or experience the world through her mind instead of the conventional methods of travel.

reply

Perhaps he's saying something that is not completely untrue... it depends on the interpretation... playing with words.

Even though for Thomasin (and us) it is not what we are expecting, he's not actually lying.

He's tricking Thomasin using vague words.

The Devil has been portrayed as using this type of tactics in multiple movies... even the comedy Bedazzled lol.

Wouldn't she get to fly? I mean they show them all floating at the end, and there is no chance the baby was snatched without some very quick movement required.

Was there a rule made that she had to be confined to the forest?

reply

Well, once she was floating as high as the treetop, she could see for miles and miles and miles and miles🎶🎶 Hence, seeing the world I guess. 😁😁

I'm with everybody else here who's saying that this was a lie - at least partially. The ending of the film is, for me, extremely disturbing. Thomasin has been driven into a horrible deal with the devil, probably even thinking this is a good thing or she'll enjoy it, because of her screwed-up family.
