Avengers Endgame MASSIVE, MASSIVE opening combined with Captain Marvel's rather glorious legs and you have a 1,2 knockout that other studios can only dream of. Other studios must be envious of such an amazing milestone!

Not much of s surprise...when you monopolize πŸ˜‰πŸ‘

reply

How can you compare? Have other franchises released their films within a month and a half of each other before? Which ones?

reply

Hence, first franchise.

No other franchise has released their films within a month and a half of each other? K. But FYI, the very leggy Captain Marvel had fallen out of the top 5 2-3 weeks ago. Now look at where it’s at. So while there may be nothing else to compare it to, any way you slice it this is noteworthy (note: OP is parodying this notoriously anti-Marvel & anti-Disney troll called Queen, so chillax).

reply

Well tell me which ones have. And like a previous poster said, star wars did it already. And dont worry about me, I'm cool as a cucumber. 😁

reply

This is 100% false.

TESB(SE) was #1 and ANH(SE) was #2 the weekend of Feb 21-23, 1997.

reply

For those who dont know TESB=The Empire Strikes Back and ANH=A New Hope from the Star Wars franchise. I believe "SE" means special edition.

You'd be surprised how many youngins dont know those acronyms.

#nailedit

reply

For those who don't know, it was originally just titled Star Wars. A New Hope was added later.

You'd be surprised how many youngins dont know this.

reply

There's a lot youngins dont know. Like when I mentioned tailgating for a football game and they had no clue what that was.

reply

Football? Back in my day we called if Flipperball, before the youngins evolved to have feet.

reply

I stand corrected! Edited the title.

Disney are fortunate to have 2 of the biggest franchises under their belt!

reply

"Fortunate"

It's not like these are homegrown brands. They're just using their enormous wealth to swallow other giant companies because they're scared of Netflix and the other booming tech companies

reply

Even more impressive to me is the fact that Endgame's opening weekend total will likely exceed the total box office of all tracked films combined in any previous weekend in history.

reply

What do you mean "all tracked films combined"?

reply

It will make more on its own in a weekend than the combined box office of all movies that played on any other weekend. In other words, pick any weekend in the history of film and add up the total box office of every single film playing in theaters. Endgame is likely to earn more than any full weekend's slate of films.

For example, for the weekend of April 27-29 of last year, the total box office earned by all 125 movies being tracked in theaters was $313,937,789. Endgame stands to out-earn that total figure.
