What went wrong?

You would have thought that the series might get better given the greater freedom the writers would have on Netflix... instead it actually got much worse. This season is the last one for me. Not even sure why they are going to do a 6th season the basically blew up the world with this one.

Here I thinking it was dead in the water.

They continued it???

dont tell me it stinks.. please, let the wrath of hell encase my understanding of it's own accord. :/

reply

Well, they're really screwed the pooch what whatever they were doing with this.

The musical episode was a mistake, but it wasn't as bad as the overall season. I'm not sure why they decided to give every character, even the minor ones a complete episode of their own. Apparently the producer decided that the should shouldn't be called it Lucifer, rather it should be called Lucier, Chloe, Dan, Mazekin, Trixie, Linda, Amenadiel and every other sidekick that is so much more. Somehow the producers forgot that the show was supposed to have a main character, one sidekick and everyone else was just filler that would be pulled in when NEEDED for the main story. Instead they wasted countless episodes to give each and every other afterthought nearly full episodes of shit storey where Lucifer became the sidekick.

It's punishment for the #savelucifer stunt that went on a while back. They said "Ok, you want it, you got it..."

It's like a worm traversing through fertile ground, finding dirt and thinking "Welp, I'm dead.." and giving up.. then being shat on, and going "Oh hey !! Carry on!" and it's just lost it's way in all the crap.

I was kind of excited for a musical episode but this was especially poorly executed.

This is "Bones " all over again. "Bones" started of with Brennan being a mildly socially awkward Indiana Jones-y nerd, to being practically retarded, just because the writers decided to exaggerate her social awkwardness as a plot device, instead of having her grow out of it, since that was the point of her teaming up with Booth in the first place.

Same thing here. Instead of Lucifer growing out of being a quirky, childish, bratty playboy (although I have no idea why, after a literal eternity, he would be one), they make him worse. Plus, they ruined Dan so much, I was actually glad they killed him off.

reply

I was also glad they finally got rid of Dan, although from what I've read in an interview with the actor he isn't gone for good and will unfortunately be back in the next season.

reply

I wasn't really glad they got rid of him. It's just that they ruined a potentially great character and made him a comedy relief. And he had amazing potential. If he's returning, I hope they improve his character.

reply

He could have been a decent character until they ignored the fact that he was a dirty cop, had murdered someone and yet they pretended that all that never happened. He couldn't be fixed because they already fucked him up too much.

reply

lol actually they copied Angel--Demon who previously had habit of sleeping around now is 'good' and attempts to help others. Except rather than being a vampire he is the devil. Okay so Joss Whedon etc can't claim copyright infringement.

reply

Lucifer is older than Angel. Neil Gaiman wrote him in the 80s. So the infringement would go the other way

reply

I'd say the Maze character is more relatable to Angel than Lucifer himself.

Your loss. This one of the best tv shows ever made. Each season was better than the last. Had a perfect ending. Loved it.

reply

Like other clever and successful shows, the writers ran out of steam in terms of creativity, but they milked at least one, possibly two more seasons than it needed. Still, it was mostly entertaining most of the time...
