The movie was worse than the first movie.

Mantis was the butt of the jokes and mistreated.

Too much of Groot

Movie version of Ego. Sorry Hollywood and Marvel Movies but thats not how Ego works.

reply

How does Ego work?... we were confused about that on another thread.

Why did he need Quill and why did he kill his mother?

reply

Ego needed Quill because he said he'd heard that a "mortal" had been able to hold an Infinity Stone. No mortal would have been able to do that and live. He needed Quill to take charge of the universe. To make all worlds like him. That was the reason he planted all those "copies" of himself all over the galaxy and to cover his tracks, killed the mothers of all his progeny. He went throughout the galaxy "reclaiming" his children attempting to do the same thing he was going to do with Quill. That's what all the skeletons were, the remains of all his children who died while he was trying to "amp" up his strength with theirs. They couldn't handle the "power up". But when he heard about Quill, he knew he had the solution to his problems in terms of being able to take control. Meredith was killed to cover up the fact that Peter was special.

Excellent explanation... thank you!

reply

You are most welcome.

From what I remember of the movie all you said is correct except for "and to cover his tracks, killed the mothers of all his progeny". I think that Ego said that he gave Quill's mom cancer, because otherwise he would be coming back to her instead of doing what he thought was his calling. I don't recall anything about covering tracks and killing the mothers of his children. I might remember incorrectly though...

reply

No, you remember correctly. He killed Quill's mom because if he saw her again, he would stay with her. There is no indication he killed the mothers of his other children.

i am goot

reply

Yeah, too much Groot. I really disliked the overdone cuteness and found him to be annoying.

Teen Groot was way better.

reply

Figures...

I liked this movie by the way so feel free to hate on it.

reply

Oh no, I quite enjoyed GOTG2. Fun movie, good 3D, Ego was great.

I thought baby Groot would be a nice touch, but he turned out to be the one thing I disliked.

I saw reviews commenting on the movie being long, but I thought it flew by!

reply

I too thought it flew by but had a great time during it.

I liked baby Groot, glad to see they've made him a bit older for the next one as it would have been trying to sit through the same gags redone.

The CGI done on Kurt Russell to make him younger was the best I've seen yet, it looked like they'd shot it in the 70's.

reply

agreed, Michael Rooker was the only good thing in the film
