What is so original about this?

It was fine,I enjoyed it,but didn't find it particularly original or fresh like Edgar's other work. Maybe I'm old enough to have seen movies like this already, and the younger crowd hasn't,but this was very middle of the road for me. Also John Hamm was terribly miscast.

I agree. Jon Hamm as a party boy outlaw french kissing his gf in public. The character itself was just silly but Jon Hamm seems so clean cut and suave that he doesn't fit the character at all. Jon Bernthal would have played the part better

And yeah, the movie was pretty mediocre, with an inconsistent tone and meandering plot. It was just an ok crime/action/teen comedy. doesn't really deserve so much acclaim

Indeed, he would have been the perfect fit, especially since this character was supposed to be unhinged.

I don't know why Jon Bernthal even agreed to be in this movie for two minutes of screen time.

Or even Jamie Foxx - I mean, granted, the role was much bigger, but that role sucked!

I agree with you wholeheartedly. People around me are always like, "oh you just didn't get it."

I'm not stupid though, this movie is so uninspired. A lot of the acting is hammy, I thought Jamie Foxx was funny, but that's as much enjoyment as I got out of the whole thing.

I got it, I just didn't like it. But I've never been the biggest Edgar Wright fan, like Tarantino, he focuses too much on referencing pop culture all the time.

Movies are getting hammier and hammier everyday.

It was pretty entertaining, but definitely not so original. Edgar tried to have a hit and he had one with this. People liked it and went to see it.

It's a comic book in movie format. The framing, the pacing, everything basically. The fresh thing is that it really feels like a moving comic book, not a filmed comic book.

John Hamm is ALWAYS a win.

Who said it had to be original? Most movies are not wholly original. Even whatever older movies you are referring to. Baby Driver is at the top of the genre though, if we're talking about driving movies. Arguably the best. A movie has to be good, not necessarily original.

Since you don't see anything original about it, it's a waste of time for me to explain why I did.

So, you go to a movie forum for what reason? Is it to hear people echo the same opinions you have? What was even the point of your reply,to let me know you don't have a reply? If this is the bar you set, I'm guessing there is a whole lot of nothing in those 11,000 posts of yours. Try the real world sometime instead of living your life online, then maybe you can actually make a contribution in your next post.

Hey, thanks for noticing that I had passed 11,000 posts! I didn't realize that I had done that.

And no, you obviously don't understand my post. I could write a big paragraph explaining why I liked it, but it would be a waste of his time and mine. It's called conversation. Maybe you've heard of it. And btw, who pissed in your cornflakes this morning, Crabby Appleton?

No, a conversation requires an actual, substantive reply. Instead of the exact same vapid nonsense you posted both in this and my thread.
