I am done apologizing for this show

It took until the second to last episode for me to realize that this is just a ham-handed attempt to make money off the brilliance that was Breaking Bad. GIlligan et al. had not idea how this show would end. They just saw dollar signs and said "yes". In the after show, not even Bob Odenkirk knew how long it had been since Saul saw Kimmy. He said a year and a half, and gilligan had to correct him and say it had been about six years. FFS, Rhea Seehorn couldn't be bothered to show up in person and this show is the only thing she is known for.

reply

Stop apologizing and then stop watching it jackass

reply

It is too fucking late for me to stop. There is only one awful episode left. Are you watching the aftershow? Vince Gilligan himself almost killed the character of Lalo Salamanca, the one character that provided gravity for the show once the brother's quarrel was over.

This doesn't diminish Breaking Bad. It is still one of the greatest shows of all-time

reply

I'm with you when it comes to all these constant whiners, bitchers and moaners - just STFU already and go watch some sort of other idiotic show.....

reply

Better Call Saul has been a great show. It had to end someday, and fans rarely like the way great shows end, because they have built such high expectations in their minds.

reply

To be honest, BCS was never a top shelf show. The evidence is in the ratings. Barely one million viewers per episode. Compare that to BB, where ten million watched "Felina". The crescendo for BCS was season five and the beginning of season six.
Should have stopped after Lalo was killed and Kim left.

reply

BB was before streaming service was so commonplace.

reply

People forget that (ratings-wise) BB didn't really start gaining traction until Netflix started streaming the first couple of seasons, which was when the show really started taking off. Sure it had critical praise up the wazoo, Emmy nods & a cult following up to then, but once it hit streaming, it REALLY captured the zeitgeist of the general viewing public.

reply

That makes sense. It allows people to catch up and watch at their convenience.

reply

and we have access to all the episodes of BCS, so your argument doesn't hold water. The people have seen it from beginning to end and have judged accordingly. If BCS was even close to BB in quality, these last few episodes would be an international phenomenon, but instead, the only action it generates is on obscure websites like this one. I ask you - Why?

reply

If you feel that ratings is an indicator of how good a show is, then you don't understand that the masses and how many horrible shows get big ratings and how many acclaimed shows get much smaller viewership. Breaking bad had similar ratings to BCS during the first 4 seasons and only broke out during the final season. With streaming now, ratings don't mean as much as it once did. If going back to season 4 and you said the same thing you did about BB and the ratings, you would be eating your words right now, seeing BB is considered one of the best, if not the best show ever.

reply

I thought the first five seasons were great, but this season is awful and kinda ruined the show for me. Breaking Bad is far superior

reply

Apples and oranges.

I think the only reason BB is seen as superior is that it was done first and things like that seem to garner more attention - it had that "never been done before" feel to it.

I have enjoyed BCS just as much and even more so and I think that goes back to when I first learned of the proposal of a Saul show and wondered how the hell could any show about such a slimy character be any good - and how wrong that was. So I think in a way, it is like comparing apples and oranges - yes, they are both fruit, but still different.

I’m surprised you can type after how sore your asshole must be from your pops.

There's barely any show where the creators know how it will end, save for maybe a small handful. The most you usually get is creators who vaguely say they had an "idea" of what the last shots would be. Hell, they'd originally planned to kill off Jesse at the end of the first season of Breaking Bad. Tuco was meant to be the big bad guy in season 2, but the actor wasn't available so they killed him off and made up the character of Gus (and even he was meant to have a smaller role at first). They only plan out these things so much (which isn't much). That's why they have giant rooms of writers every season to "make it up as they go along" lol. And usually even those plans are forced to evolve so much over the years that, by the end, they don't even bear a passing resemblance to what they originally were.

And I don't know why it's any surprise that a lead actor would be ignorant of the series they're in. Have you ever watched a Comic Con panel and seen the amount of clueless answers almost every actor from every show, movie, and video game gives to every question? It's a miracle to find any who seem like they've seen even an episode of the series they're staring in. Let alone one who appears to be a fan of the story. Most just talk about how much fun they had on the set, what it's like in so-and-so location, etc. If it's not their line, they don't seem to care 9 times out of 10 (and even then it seems like they don't care all that much).
