Contingency Plan

What are the show runners’ plans to finish the series if an important actor such as Bob Odenkirk or Jonathan Banks were to die or have something happen that would prevent them from acting in their roles? I mean it would be hard to wrap up the series’ storyline without its characters who appear in Breaking Bad since Better Call Saul runs directly into that series.

It would probably end up the same fate as Solo a Star Wars story. A prequel that left the door open for a sequel that never happened so there is a gap between the prequel and the film it’s a prequel for

We are kinda getting this with Robert Forster’s Ed. While Ed is not a franchise regular, his character is important to the set up for BCS. It will be interesting to see what they do when they finally catch up to him in the timeline.

They still have some unused footage that was shot around the same time they were filming El Camino.

reply

Cool. I didn’t know that. I knew the season 5 opener was done while filming El Camino but I didn’t know they shot additional scenes.

Pretty sure Robert Forester is the only actor to appear in Breaking Bad, El Camino AND Better Call Saul. If there's someone I missed please fill me in.

reply

The guy who plays Mike.

reply

Ah yes forgot he had a brief flashback in El Camino

reply

The show would probably just have to be canceled end on a cliffhanger if that happened. I don't see how else they could do it unless they made a CGI Saul or Mike.

reply

You could say this about any show basically.

reply

True but this show has a clear plan essentially already laid out for what it wants to achieve since everything is intended to be tied up nicely to lead to a smooth transition into the events of Breaking Bad whereas an original show that is not a prequel can go in any direction it wants.
