An Asian actor would never be given to be the love interest of the White woman.

Asian guy here. Couldn't enjoy this movie due to the blatant propaganda they are pushing. It's always has to be the black guy who is desirable to white women. Never an Asian man. Never. The villains are invariably always white men; the underdog, noble, brave, strong, intelligent, desirable to white women non-white guy is invariably the black guy. So he is the one paired up with the white woman.

They've been pushing this agenda for decades. We've had enough of this crap.

With the rise of China, and with that, the Asian market. I hope Netflix realises we don't want to see this crap. We want to see Asian men represented in a better light. Why can't the Asian guy be the one who is heroic and desirable to white women?

reply

Just watch Asian cinema or something then, whino. And confirmation bias is a thing, are you perhaps a mongoloid?

I was making the point recently in another thread that there has been a significant uptick in black male/white female on-screen relationships in the past few years. It can be seen in films, television and advertising.

Why? I don't know, but it's true.

You're correct that Asian men rarely get depicted on-screen as being in a relationship with a white woman. I should point out that, as Asians only make up about 5% of the American population, you wouldn't expect to see it a whole lot. But you should expect to see it occasionally.

Recently I was watching the Amazon show Bosch and the lead character's white ex-wife has gotten remarried to an Asian man. I was pretty surprised to see that, since you see it so rarely.

You're also right that, of late, Hollywood has grown really skittish about portraying men of color as villains. I was pretty shocked when I watched Peppermint recently, because you have Jennifer Garner going after a bunch of Latino gang members. Of course the usual media came out talking about how "problematic" the film is because of this, as if the gang member types have no basis in reality.

I am glad to see I am not the only one who has noticed this trend. Why you ask. The Jews who control the media have an agenda to push.

I disagree that it's "of late", it's been going on for decades. They never show the men of dark persuasion as villains. It just won't sell, and it's controversial because it goes against political correctness and the agenda they are pushing that people of dark complexion can do no wrong, even if crime statistics based on what's going on in real life is contrary to this.

It's gotten so bad, that I refuse to watch anything with a multiracial cast, because I know how it's going to roll. In the multiracial cast, the Asian guy still gets screwed over in favour of the darkies. Even if they show one bad darkie character, they must counter this with a few good darkie characters to show that not all darkies are bad.

reply

Jews, “darkies”, and evil multiculturalism. Yeah, everyone else has the agenda. Those words come from someone who’s obviously pained by seeing those he hates painted in a light he believes they shouldn’t be painted in.

reply

Well, I mean, the Jews DO control MSM.

I don't think OP inherently has an issue with black man + white woman. I think he has an issue with the FREQUENCY of that portrayal.

"Black man = Alpha/Athletic/Smart/Good, White man = Beta/Scrawny/Dumb/Bad" is another trope that's been over-represented in MSM lately, including commercials, shows, movies. It is, you must admit, getting old.

reply

Look at the majority of film and television released in the past 5 years and it’s still overwhelmingly a white male hero who saves the day. A white male hero ,aim character. And quite often the black character sacrifices himself so the white male hero can fulfill his destiny. Mind you I don’t have a problem with a white hero. I’ve been cheering for them my whole life. What I’m saying is that yes there’s been an uptick in black heroes in film and the disparity is still overwhelmingly white leads. So for that I don’t understand why the black hero/alpha is “getting old” when the white hero alpha is still the vast majority. Hell, even the actor in this film (Trevante Rhodes) sacrifices himself in both Bird Box and The Predator so make sure the white hero saves the day.

reply

In Bird Box, the hero is a "white woman" though. White women are virtually never cast as having any weaknesses or faults on TV. In fact, they are often portrayed as "the one who receives the prize," the prize being the alpha black man. This occurs so much in US commercials as of late. Weak/ugly/dumb white man makes a fool of himself, while strong/handsome/smart black man shows how great and intelligent he is, often while a white woman observes the obvious difference, often with an impressed, intrigued and/or seduced expression on her face.

The issue is not that it simply occurs. It's the frequency at which it occurs, and the fact that it is never the other way around.

Every man of color in Bird Box is just so very good, and so very moral, that even when infected, they manage to either sacrifice themselves to save others, or quite literally "kill all the bad whites" before sacrificing themselves. Conversely, every white man (and some white women, but not all white women) are bad people who turn into psychotic murderers when infected. Even when they are right and are the voice of reason (Malkovich), they are still not to be trusted or befriended.

Whites make up over 70% of the population of the US, so you can't use, "But we see white heroes so often in films!" as any kind of valid complaint, because we also see plenty of white villains in those same films. And besides, I reiterate again: The existence of noble, heroic, athletic black men on its own, is not the issue. The issue is when they consistently insert a weak, cowardly, ugly, nerdy, racist (etc etc) white man to paint an obvious contrast of one being good and the other being bad.

Police Academy 3 - Lt Callahan had a romance with Cadet Nogata.

OP comes in mad at Hollywood for using black men as love interest for white women moreso than they do Asian men. Then OP goes on a rant about crime stats because that lends to his argument (how? I don’t know!).

Dude, black women and Asian men are often put on the back burner as it pertains to Hollywood and “romances”. But yes, this is total “propaganda”. There’s clearly an agenda if they show a black male/white female interracial relationship. Even though it’s the most prominent interracial pairing in the real world. One thing I can tell you is that lately I’ve come to realize that there’s no single group of people who don’t think the world is out to get them and their the victims of everyone else’s “oppression”. Get the f*ck over yourselves! EVERYONE!!!

reply

Given that your premise is true, that the black guy is more desirable to the white woman in movies, it's simple. They (the movie makers) go with the stereotype that the black guy is packing more meat. Maybe they should do a better job seeking out Asian men who don't have little wieners, though that might take a while.

reply

I'm sorry, but you're not high enough in the "oppressed by evil white males scale".

reply

I'm not sure about any black man/white woman agenda.I will say that when it comes to racial equality in the entertainment industry blacks and hispanics get the most attention. While Asians and native Americans get the least.

I'll tell you why western women find asian men unattractive:

1) very little body hair. Body hair = masculinity. Therefore an asian man is a feminised version of a white man.

2) no eyelid fold/slanted eyes. The eyes aren't attractive to women. Whereas a man may find asian eyes on a girl exotic, and thus attractive, western women prefer eyes that are more open looking. Open = trustworthiness. Asian actors and young women seem to like the double eyelid surgery to add a western look, as well as a more versatile ability to display emotion.

3) Asian mothers. If a girl has ever dated asian, she will know that the parents are generally not welcoming of a white daughter in law. They want asian kids and asian culture.

4) Asian men can be more like a gay best friend. They like to shop, wear brand names, even carry bags that are almost hand bags. That just doesn't wash well with western women.

So I think it's a physical and cultural thing.

I think the men who buck this perception however would be attractive women. Ken Watanabe, tall, facial hair, masculine traits, would definitely work as a asian lead with a white woman.
