SJW Zone

I knew this show was going to be an SJW free-for-all but wow, some of the eps are so blatantly in your face new age SJW that it takes away from the story. And the stories are in many cases designed to purvey the Leftist agenda, making the whole thing feel like one big Clockwork Orange taped eyelid session. Granted, you could just turn it off. What's sad is that show is actually well-made, with very good to great actors and interesting (at least until the no-twist endings) plots. It would have been so much better if politics and leftwing narcissism had been left out of the show. But instead it permeates every episode, whether blatant (Rewind) or (sorta) subtle (Point of Origin). If Peele wanted to have his beliefs on display in a show, I wish he wouldn't have used TTZ as his vehicle and instead made something original. As it is, the tactic is deceptive, annoying, and insidious. The original TZ was a commentary on the human race; the new TZ is race baiting.

🥱

To be frank though, a lot of these salty reactionaries need to come up with more original and edgier material cuz to say they sound like sad - white privileged - broken records on these boards would be an understatement.

Well, Peele is Black, so would that make his privilege black? But yes, most of the sjw-related "entertainment" is thinly-veiled propaganda, and new and fresh material would be good, if only for the artistic reason... but I'm not sure the sjw film-makers nor their intended audience would care either way or are bright enough to even realize how stale their content has become.

TZ has always been about making social commentary, but this new version really feels like the tail is wagging the dog. I'd say only about 2 of the episodes were really engaging. It's a shame because I really wanted to like this revival.

reply

Yes, same here. There were several eps that were promising. The last one was a real mess and I have no idea what it was about. The originals are the best.

The OG series is the best, but I've seen every episode about 4000 times. After being disappointed with this latest revival, I went back and watched the 80s and 2000s revivals and was surprised how much I enjoyed them. Nothing beats the originals, but those were decent revivals.

In this new series, I really only like the Nightmare at 30,000 Feet ep and the one where they were all on a spaceship. The rest were pretty bad. The worst was that ep where all the men were going crazy, but the "twist" was that deep down, they just all hated women. Lol.

reply

I agree that Terror at 30,000 and Six Degrees were the best eps, with the most promise. Not All Men was cringy and blatant man-bashing.

reply

Thing is, Not All Men started off with promise. They just bonered it with that dumb "twist". I was actually into it for the first half of it.

It sucks because it's clear that Peele is a fan of the original. Of all the revivals, this one aesthetically matches the feel of the original the most. But the fact that they sacrificed story quality in favor of an agenda pretty much kills this iteration.

reply

Agreed, although after sitting through 6 or 7 of the eps prior to Not All Men made me realize the path this show was heading down, so I was just waiting for the sjw theme of the episode. Reminded me of that cringy Gillette commercial. As I've mentioned, the stories have promise, and if a more neutral approach had been taken by the makers, we could have had a decent reboot.

There's a difference between social commentary and preaching. Old TZ made social commentary. Christian movies preach. And the new TZ preaches.

Well that's just great...

After I read that...I was done.

On a separate note...the first two season's of the 80's Twilight Zone was actually pretty good.

The 2000's version had it's moments with a few episodes nicely done.

Agreed RVS.

Peele is just a race-baiting cunt, full stop.

reply

wow , a show chucks a bit of "thinly veiled social commentary" out
and y'all like vampires in the sunlight: "It Burns ! It Burns! "

I'm lucky , I can filter it out , or just not get upset about it whilst still enjoying the show.
Probably couldnt do that for a christian film though
