do you guys think JJ tried to make 2 movies into 1? as he tried to make his episode 8 & 9 in one movie.

I heard TROS completely retcon TLJ. so I think he did tried to make 2 movies into 1.

This one review I watched said they should have said screw the trilogy format and just made a 10th movie. I'm inclined to agree.

I actually thought they would abandon the trilogy idea and just make a line of sequels. 10, 11, 12, 13, and so on.

Some critics (both professional and unprofessional) say all 9 movies into one. Lol... please. Perhaps it did feel like more than one film (I’d argue it was inevitable and I don’t see that as a negative thing), but you know what? I loved it. Imperfect, yes, albeit I find this criticism that it was super convoluted quite amusing because, as far as I’m concerned, ROS was a relatively straightforward film. I didn’t have a hard time with it, so I would hardly call it confusing. Fun journey either way.

Yes, it did feel like it, especially in the first act. Perhaps he planned a followup to RoS but they told him no?
