Backlash over the season 8 premiere.

It's currently the lowest rated episode of the series on IMDB . And people on social media are complaining it's "too political" and "too woke".

Haven't seen it & can't comment on the episode but I did kinda see this kind of reaction coming when the writers said that they "threw out" some of their scripts to incorporate real world issues this season.

I think it was around the BLM movement last year but I could be wrong

the 1st EP of this new season is a cringe-fest,
every other sentence is a political statement on bad policing, female empowerment, or the struggles of blacks in america...
they even had one character quit the force stating she could no longer be a part of the broken system

reply

Rosa came back of course because she is a main character. Just glad this is the final season and I wish we could erase season 8 from the internet and TV.

RT gets it wrong again, not surprised.

My wife is usually unphased by woke TV, but even she said it was ridiculous.

Worst of all- it's just not funny.

Well, there are a few solid jokes.

But too much pandering when they should have been making with the funny.

Said the same on another thread. As a cop show, there was probably a need to refer to the news story but, crucially, as a comedy, the first point has to be humour to some extent. The first episode was awful.

It's was also clearly a tired show which had run its course and the jokes couldn't hit the heights to make up for a slightly focussed point in terms of the story line.
