Bond after Brexit is so preposterous :-)

Any influence the British empire once had is gone. All the UK now has is being a lapdog to the USA. No way that MI6 is still significantly in play.

reply

Maybe they don't have much influence anymore, but Brexit has only increased whatever influence they wield now and into the future. What influence could they ever have being one small part of the EU? Now they are free and independent, for better or worse, but at least they will succeed or fail on their own merits now, and not just succumb to whatever the EU's agenda is.

reply

EU or not, the British empire was nothing more then a very big fish in a very small pond back in the day. On an even playing field they stand no chance against the top 5 powers of the world; in any area.

reply

... and Bond pre-EU? What was he then?

reply

The Bond films are all a work of fiction. So who cares about BREXIT anyway

reply

All non-fictional characters

reply

Some characters are non fiction but not all. The only non fiction characters in the James Bond universe is Jaws and Hugo Drax. In fact the film, Moonraker, is the only Bond story based on a true story

reply

Totally true.
Uk was already an annoying little cunt as part of the EU, but it held its place in the biggest economy in the world. The MI6 worked as part of the espionage and counter espionage services in that block, representing western interests in general.

Now the MI6 is working solely for a puny club of 4 countries that hate each other, whose business is ludicrous compared to the big players in the globe: China, Russia, USA, EU.
India has a bigger place than UK now, and probably a better intelligence.
At this point, even the Zohan is a more influencing agent than Bond.
What mission can Bond truly tackle now? Recovering Meghan's stolen topless pictures?

reply

How about a coup d'etat? Talk about serving one's country!

reply

In uk? Who cares about that?
May and Bojo and brexit itself are coups, I don't see anybody asking for a hero to save the world. Only uk is burnin down, well tough luck.

If he helps a coup in usa or russia, that's more interesting and relevant.
But it would just reinforce how insignificant his agency has become, meddling in other countries policies.

reply

you kindof bring up a good point. but the suspension of disbelief is still effective, if they weren't fucking up the story lines so bad. the franchise owners are the ones who ruined the franchise. oh, it's made money. sure. by that metric it's wildly successful. but the content and context sux lately.
