Worst MCU movie, but

it was still better than Batman V Superman and Suicide Squad!

reply

As problematic as those films were they were still better than this.

reply

It's better than BVS but I liked Suicide Squad more.

reply

Suicide Squad (the new one) is much worse.
This was bad, but forgettable. Not bad like Iron Man 2 was bad.

And Batman v Superman was a great movie, much better than Civil War, the Marvel version of superhero vs. superhero.

Suicide Squad (the new one) is much worse.

Was this worse than Captain America 2 The Winter Soldier?

I pretty much stopped watching MCU stuff around the time this came out, so I never saw it. The last things I remember watching were Iron Man 3, Capt America, and the first Avengers. Just started getting back into them recently, I watched the the rest of the Avengers movies and then started going back and watching solo movies I missed. I was well aware Marvel fans hate this one, in fact several recommended that I skip it entirely. But I watched it anyway, and whatever about it was supposed to be so bad missed me somehow. It definitely wasn't anything special, I suppose movies like this were the reason I lost interest in the first place.. but I thought it was OK.

edit: for the record, I also saw both GotGs when they were current because my officemate wouldn't shut up about the first one, and I liked it so I watched the second one... and Dr Strange because he was a favorite when I was a little kid reading comic books.

It's not that bad! Okay, it is that bad, but it's still fun to watch and I consider this movie to be a bit of a guilty pleasure.

What's my least favorite Marvel film... probably "Iron Man 2" or "Black Widow", which are no fun at all. And that's the only unforgivable thing in a Marvel film, being no fun. That's what they're for, FUN!

reply

I don't get the hate for Black Widow.

I thought it WAS fun. The humor worked for me and Florence Pugh did a great job with her character.

reply

Pugh was okay in "BW", but she was far better in "Hawkeye", where she had something to work with! She was just great in that series, made me want to see more and more of Yelena! And Yelena and Kate!

I don't hate "Black Widow", I just found it boring. Starring a contender for the title of Weakest Actor in the Marvel Stable, about uninteresting family issues, with meh action sequences. I give it a 4/10, and it's impossible to have any strong feelings about a 4/10 movie.

reply

Honestly, I really don't get the hate. I really have to go back and watched reviews for when this movie came out or peruse the board more but I never really see anything specifically about why this movie is SOOOOOOO bad. I loved it. But I tend to like the lesser popular movies people tend to shoo away. Maybe I'm pretentious...maybe I just like a good popcorn flick. I am less impressed with the more modern/current MCU movies so this being the 'worst' is really an over statement bordering on laughable. Eternals, Black Widow, Captain Marvel all ahead of Thor 2 for me. Hell, I'll even add Avengers Infinity War above Thor...yea...I said it...didn't care for it. I liked seeing Jane in Asgard, I loved the action sequences; Heimdal attacking that ship was epic. Everything with Loki in it steels the show. His 'Captain America bit, his slap to the face, their escape out of Asgard, the whole double cross bit. It was fun and I liked where they were positioning the characters even if they really didn't do anything with it in the following films.

reply

I'd say it's about the same as Suicide Squad;I don't hate that movie. Certainly better than BVS.
