DC Films making two different Batman film series

One for Robert Pattinson and the other for whoever is replacing Ben Affleck in the DCEU.

TEXT:

That's not all that WB has planned for DC, as the studio will begin dipping its toes into multiple timelines going forward. After experimenting with more standalone stories like Joker, DC will have multiple universes running concurrently, with Wonder Woman existing Earth 1, while Pattinson's take on Batman will belong to Earth 2. That Batman will not belong to the DCEU, which will have its own Batman saga running concurrently.

"To make all the story lines work, DC Films will introduce movie audiences to a comics concept known as the multiverse: parallel worlds where different versions of the same character exist simultaneously," the Times writes, pointing to the studio's "two different film sagas" involving Batman. The Flash is the film that is expected to set the DCEU Batman franchise in motion, with both Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton set to don the cape and cowl for that 2022 release.

“I don’t think anyone else has ever attempted this,” Hamada said. “But audiences are sophisticated enough to understand it. If we make good movies, they will go with it.”

So they're going to make it as complicated as actual comic books were in the 90s? Geez that's real smart.

reply

I think they want to up the ante on the MCU since they're planning a multiverse expansion too.

reply

What arc or series from the 90's DC comics did you find complicated?

I would have thought that they didn't start complicating things until 2007 and later on with all their reboots, parallels, timelines, bringing back the dead, etc.

reply

They started all that stuff all the way back in like the silver age

reply

I was referring to just the 90's decade.

reply

Geez councilor, I don't know.

reply

You said: "make it as complicated as actual comic books were in the 90s?".

So I asked you, what arc or series from the 90's were you particularly referring to, or were you just talking sh1t?

reply

Did I say you could ask me a fucking thing, motherfucker?

reply

lmao...If you are easily hurt and offended by a simple question then you are in the wrong chat site.

reply

Kinda, I hang out in the political section, fool.

reply

That explains it then, you were just talking shit in a non-political post...I get it.

reply

Yeah those bitches go to sleep eventually.

reply

Yes, but they always come back.

reply

It's the same boring shit, same insults, same people...

I found Crisis on Infinite Earths confusing...that was the 80s I guess. I found it confusing on it's surface and I was confused by its supposed necessity.

I don't know if DC did this but in the 90s marvel was bad about making you by 5 or more books a month just to get a single story line.

reply

COIE was one of the most complex and convoluted story lines, but the 90's was a little more stable.

Yes, it was one of their marketing schemes to make more money from their loyal readers since we wanted to find out the outcome/conclusion to a story line, a bullshit gimmick that they took advantage of.

In case you have not heard, the DC line is going through major changes and restructuring that dropped their number of monthly releases and within the next couple of years, they will likely stop all physical distribution and go exclusively digital only.

reply

Digital only...what a world, man...I'll be honest, I haven't bought a comic book since around 2002...I should get into them again...they would be good for my midlife crisis.... currently my midlife crisis hobby is shit posting on here.

reply

I stopped reading them as well

reply

Honestly though, I give my thoughts...I never opened it up for questions.

reply

I get it.

reply

It's dumb. The common global audience ain't gonna be able to follow that stuff.

reply

Then they're dumber than I expected. It'd be just two Batman at most if we exclude Keaton's cameo.

reply

Multiverse nonsense always makes everything feel less important and less real. You really can't emotionally invest in a character when you know that time travel or parallel universe shenanigans are happening. (A few specific examples aside, all outside of superhero movies and shows.) Makes everything feel shallow and written on silly putty.

reply

Well maybe the DCEU and MCU will collapse onto themselves at the same time.

reply

I don't think the intention here is multiverse. They're just making this a standalone so its not linked to the DCEU which would limit possible darker storylines.

reply

That’s awesome!
