Um...mmmkay.

So anytime she sees or hears anything relating to Trump, she sees a clown? How stupid. I may not get beyond this episode. Scared of clowns myself, but I'm going through it w/o really looking when they appear, but so far it's so not worth it. Trump sucks, we get it.

reply

I agree, and I am definitely not pro-Trump. I'm just sick to death of seeing/hearing/reading about him. And, now...he's in my damned entertainment, too.

reply

Yeah, I think I'm going to give it up this season. Too bad too because a cult was a good idea, but he has killed that shit. Plus, two clowns having sex? So stupid. Peace, AHS.

reply

I finally gave up on AHS after the abysmal Freak Show season, but I tuned in last night because the "Cult" theme sounded like it could be interesting...

However, I see AHS is still going for shock value at the expense of mood or suspense, and they're not even being subtle about it anymore, either.

And it appears the whole cult angle of this season is going to primarily concern Evan Peter's alt-right loony, whose gang of killers looks (from the upcoming episode previews) like it's going to be the Manson family crossed with the psychos from The Purge.

Yawn. There's a bunch of other series that look more promising to watch later this Fall TV season, so while AHS was wise to try and get a jump on the competition by premiering in the first week of September, it's still just another worthless season of AHS to avoid. My time will be better spent elsewhere in TV land.

reply

The shock value is no longer shocking to me anymore. What shocks me now is there not being any shock value. Anytime I watch a show now, I expect a sex scene that tries to push the boundaries and it's gotten old & I'm not even a prude! It started with that plastic surgery show with Julian McMahon or something (I don't care enough to look it up) and it's kept on going since then and it's old. A clown banging another clown on produce, seriously? Bottom of the barrel.

You're right, the story telling is just bad and I grit my teeth through Freak Show & that one with GaGa, but he twisted shit up last season and that just got too confusing. I think I'm officially done with AHS & Cult was capable of redemption, but it failed.

Scream Queens was good though.

Funny that you mention Nip/Tuck (that was that show's name) which, whether you were aware of it or not, was also a Ryan Murphy production. That show got noticed for its "pushing the boundary" sex scenes coincidentally. I'm not a prude, either, but it's my opinion that when you keep pushing the boundaries further and further for anything--sex, violence, whatever--eventually the bar is so high to clear in order to achieve anything that's shocking anymore that you ultimately embarrass yourself. And if that intention was your sole intent as a writer, disregarding creation of a good, well-developed story that can support that kind of "shocking" style, you're left with crappy shows like what we've had on AHS for most of it's seasons.

I'm really amazed that anyone can watch this crap anymore and actually be entertained by it. But then again, there's always a new generation of youngsters only too willing to have their noses rubbed in sleaze and acclaim it as something "out there" or "cutting-edge" just so they can think they're hip.

reply

Ha, I had no idea Nip/Tuck was part of gis resume. Everything else you said was very well said and extremely true.

reply

I've been a fan of the show since the beginning. I'll give it a few episodes, but this is terrible so far. I don't even care about the political angle. It's just bad in general. I've seen some pretty B grade horror films and this is right up there.

reply

Yeah. Man, I thought I was going to get pummeled posting this.

I don't know why I have only gotten notifications for only few replies so I apologize for the delay. I missed the first AHS installment and saw it when the 2nd one was running or was about to start and I didn't really like it bc I knew there was going to be some dumbass alien garage. The only one I liked as well as the the first was Coven.

reply

I agree butterfly, we had to hear about Trump so much during the election and of course now that he's President, it's like enough already. I hate politics anyway, I don't want to be bashed over the head with it during things I watch to escape all the BS. Bye AHS, maybe next season.

reply

Yep I am done as well. Not watching this season. Sarah Paulson is fabulous, but to watch her terrorized for a full hour is just not my idea of escapism. I have enough stress in real life. Give me some Housewives, lol. Trash at its finest, but at least I can sleep at night.

reply

"Give me some Housewives, lol. Trash at its finest, but at least I can sleep at night."

YES, exactly. We have to live this political nightmare everyday and I use TV to escape it, so bringing Trump and adding some clowns was enough for me.

reply

"maybe next season."

Yeah, I won't hold my breath.

reply

Me either, I couldn't get through Freak Show and haven't watched any of the following seasons so I probably will not pick it up again.

reply

But you are posting on a message board of a show you haven't watched in years and have no interest in?..

Yeah, that makes sense (ahem).

reply

I would think the obvious answer would be that I saw the trailer for this season and came here to see what people are saying about it. Since it's a new story each season I still at least check out the premise to see if it looks like something I would be interested in.

Make sense now?

reply

I fast forwarded most of the second show. I dont need more anxiety in my life. This season is all about the scare factor. Its not for me. Love the actors..they are great, but the theme of the show is a fail. Major fail.

reply

The theme could have been so good too. What a waste.

reply

Enjoying it so far. Please see the direction they're going for before saying it sucks.

reply

I love the direction and theme. The whole division among trump supporters and haters is played out. The scene when she goes in the grocery store and sees the guy with the hat supporting trump was creepy. The show just takes the little anxieties people had with the election results and exaggerates things into a feeling of paranoia. I for one am loving the creepy clowns and the creepy cult member nanny. Loved her goth looking dress last night. However most of last night although I guess was necessary it was a little slow in terms of the creep factor. Should be interesting what comes of her shooting the guy from the restaurant.

They are making fun of both extremes in the political spectrum.

If anything the progressives are shown in a worse light than the Trump supporters.

reply

Yeah, see it’s still shoving politics down our throats. We seriously have to hear this from someone at some point in our week if we don’t hear it from CNN. Oh and clowns suck & have been played out.

reply

Sure and I can see how many people don't like that. Just saying though its not all about just being anti-Trump. Far from it.
