Wakanda and Pandora (Avatar)

Wakanda has Vibranium and Pandora has Unobtanium.

Both rare materials are coveted and for entertainment purposes stories were produced with drastically different POVs.

Avatar takes the well worn route of the Western male as the savior for a society and people totally foreign to his own.

Wakanda to this point is shown as unbowed, unbroken and unconquered. To some extent Wakanda is shown as a country and a people that could reach outstanding levels of advancement if left untouched by outside influences.

Black Panther is allegedly more of a intra-political thriller than a socio-political or extra-political thriller. Some posters have voiced their discontent of the movie based on their own biases.

I'm suggesting that people need to actively push both their biases and expectations aside and allow the movie Black Panther to be seen in the moment.

So do you plan on finishing the discussion we were having in my thread or are you just going to sweep it under the rug and pretend it doesn't exist? You demand that I answer your questions, so I do, and then you fuck off. It's been over a month now.

Well stated. But, I’m afraid that’s asking too much from those already voicing their annoyance with the movie.

In any case, with every day the anticipation for “Black Panther” certainly grows. Oh yeah :)

Yes my wife and I are entertaining taking a class-room of kids to see the movie because of their enthusiasm and curiosity.

After having seen the movie the social and political issues that BP addresses are both internal and external with the only real impact being the tribes of Wakanda in open warfare against themselves.

The very thing the Wakandans didn't want actually happen.

The difference is that the loudest and most persistent voices on this board against the so called messaging in this movie won't be able to enjoy BP because they see their own biases instead of the movie.

It is as if the "anti-SJWs" need a guide to constantly explain the movie to them.

You mean a HUMAN that so happens to be male.

But nah... let us say A MALE!!!!! It's the PATRIARCHY!!!!!!!

By the way, the villain in the story is also A MALE!!!!! and a HUMAN!!!!!!

Therefore, Alien Life Matters

PS - the reason why the hero is a male, is to have a romance with the alien female....

... because as it seems, Aliens are not gay.

..and this is why Earthlings can NEVER have nice things on this planet.

You guys see a Boogey-Man behind every blade of grass and every movie frame.

Yeah, well, some people are OFFENDED if a movie doesn't have a white male heterosexual lead.

Fortunately, Hollywood has figured out that they don't need to pander to such people to make money.
