i've learned ten-thousand times more from these boards than any "trivia" or "goofs" section of a film or television show could ever list.
and regardless of trolls, even the *high-spirited* conversations are informative if not entertaining... always educational.

Two main reasons: IMDB couldn't control people giving honest opinions of crap shows/movies, especially their own steaming pile of streaming effluence & since the left no longer feels in control of anything they decide to dump on everyone and do it symbolically on Prsidents Day

TV producers feeling the heat about their incompetence, and how
most TV shows and movie rely on the same idiotic plots and devices.
Like in the Walking Dead, or anything else for example, how the camera
is on someone, and then someone else appears out of nowhere right
next to them. Like they could be right next to them or have walked up
and not made any noise ... they do this over and over.
Movies and TV have to get better, but they just want to go on automatic,
sell the same old boring stuff and make more money.
It was priceless. Some contentious posts - but you could just walk away. I don't even know how this board works - if you wanted to comment on an epidsode of Homeland, it is just a general Homeland board. You were able to see your previous posts on your profile page before and receive an email when you received a comment.
I connected with people in different time zones and all of the info was a treasure. I was introduced to different cinema in other parts of the world and in different time periods. It was an education and enlightenment for those who love film and International TV. It is a true loss.

Yep totally agree! I was so peeved when IMDb decided to delete the message boards. It was a cyber "holocaust" imo in that they expunged hundreds or thousands or hundreds of thousands of great posts in which movie fans made connections, gave recommendations, answered questions etc. about the movies and movie stars we love or hate. Hopefully TPTB at IMDb will change their minds in the future and return the boards or create another way for us fans to discuss movies, tv shows, etc.
And yeah I couldn't help, but chuckle at the "sock puppets" plotline this season as it's something that's always been in the back of my mind whenever I log online not unlike an "urban legend," especially when I wander over to alt.news sites like Alex Jones "Infowars" or Michael Snyder's "The economic collapse" blog and read the numerous comments posted. Sometimes when I'd see "regular" posters I always would wonder if this poster is actually in prison or a Nigerian scammer or in some corporate warehouse basement somewhere doing the very thing Max got hired for lol! I know it might sound like a "conspiracy theory," but you could even say the trolls that brought down IMDb's message boards were probably created for this express purpose i.e. to create a negative environment on such popular social media platforms like IMDb to the point that all forms of discourse and dissent had to be shut down completely. It's a technocrats "wet dream" in the making...
