The new litmus test for dating

I saw this article floating around on a few websites and women are using the Barbie movie as a litmus for men that they would want to date. So if a man agrees with the movie's feminist message he's dateable. I have no desire to see the movie ever.

reply

That's idiotic. You can't judge a dating partner based on a movie. There are men and women who dislike the movie for different, valid reasons. I gave it a mixed review. I liked parts of it, but didn't like other elements. Not sure if that means I pass or fail the test.

reply

That's a bit limited, this is not a yes-no question!

If a man has no interest in the movie one way or another, is he dateable? I mean obviously if he rants and raves about how evil a stupid fluffy movie is then run like the wind, gurl, but if a straight girl is waiting for a straight man to say he adores the movie, she's going to wait a long time.

UNLESS SHE IS DATING ME...I ADORED THE FILM...PLUS...I AM STRAIGHT...DREAM MACHINE RIGHT?

reply

It's actually the rescue kitties that make you a dream machine.

If your aim is to find a long term partner, ascertaining that you share values is sensible. Can that be achieved through 'the Barbie test'? I strongly doubt it, unless perhaps -- as Otter suggests -- it's one of the extreme, politicised and latently misogynistic reactions we've seen.

Y'know: 'Have you seen the Barbie movie?' 'No. I have no interest.' 'Why not?' 'Just not my kind of thing. I like action movies.' That tells you nothing.

'Have you seen the Barbie movie?' 'No, it's libturd commie propaganda designed to break up the nuclear family.' Well, that might tell you something about whether or not you share values that with person.

Thanks, cupcake!

Ask the woman if she prefers Tosca's Honey or Aphex Twin's Windowlicker.

reply

I think that is more like a litmus test for closet gay men if anything.

reply

Easy way to dodge a bullet.

Any grown woman who cares about a barbie movie is a hard pass.

reply

These stupid tests are a good way to end up alone.

Adult Men are not the target audience. It shouldn’t be surprising if don’t want to see it, or don’t enjoy it when they are forced to see it.

reply

I'm pretty sure wallet size still helps a lot of women determine dating eligibility.

reply

Indeed. Size matters.

Although in fairness, some guys look at the purse first:
