One of Cruise's weaker films

I like most of Tom Cruise's films, but this wasn't very good. It dragged on far too long and was dull at times. The story wasn't interesting enough and the characters were not developed enough. The film borrowed too many elements from several other better films. My rating is 5/10.

It's one of his decent 7/10 films. There are far weaker films in his back catalogue. It's better than Jack Reacher 2, The Mummy, Far and Away, Cocktail, Mission Impossible II, Lions for Lambs.... just off the top of my head. If you want to talk dull then Lions for Lambs is his most boring.

Even on 'cruise control', Tom's movies are at least watchable/mildly entertaining.

I'd give Oblivion a 6.2/10.

I actually dislike all of Cruise's scifi films. I don't think any of them are done particularly well. Even that Minority Report people seem to love. Not sure if he doesn't fit well with the genre or if the directors just go crazy cause they're throwing Tom Cruise money around with the budgets.

Well, Cruise has only done 5 sci-fi movies--- I haven't seen Vanilla Sky, But have seen the rest and thought they were all very very good

This is so much better than American Made, the Mummy, JR never go back, Knight & Day & Valkyrie !

If you have Tom Cruise, you better have a project that is up to his level. This wasn't it.

I'd give it a 7/10. The visuals are stunning and the cast is awesome. Morgan Freeman, Nicolas Coster Waldau, Olga Kurylenko and Andrea Riseborough are all accomplished actors. The unexpected twist was also decent. Sci-fi fans should definitely check this movie out.
