The 4th Animation Movie After More Than 4 Decades

For an animation film based on Tolkien books, it has been a long time since Ralph Bakshi's The Lord of the Rings 1978, Rankin/Bass The Hobbit 1977, and Return of the King 1980. It is the third Middle-Earth movie animated by a Japanese company (Sola Digital Arts) and the first one to tell the story of "Helm Hammerhand" and "Helm's Deep" which took place 250 years before the events of the Lord of the Rings. And the important thing, the movie will be produced by New Line Cinema (the producer of the PJ trilogy) and Warner Bros. Animation, not a third party, which means (I assume) they will not repeat Amazon Prime "The Rings of Power" mistake of changing most of the original stuff in the name of diversity.

Who cares what they change? It's a cartoon, so I won't be watching it.

I'm definitely interested. Can't say the same for ROP season 2.

2d or cg?

reply

Well, they are making the hero Helm’s daughter Hera (unnamed by Tolkien) so there will be a bit of the woke agenda.

Should still be 1000x better than RoP.

"They have a Nigerian actor in the cast! This movie is doomed"
