the best sherlock holmes tv series?

Yes. Even with that disappointing final season.

I haven't seen them all, but it's the worst I have seen. I don't mind the updating, but I do strongly mind making Holmes into an autistic mental case. I realize it's trendy, but it's not the authentic Sherlock Holmes.

Hogwash!

The best Sherlock Holmes TV series was EASILY the ITV/Granada series with the great Jeremy Brett in the role of Holmes.

i agree

I'm not sure exactly how to rank the best, but Elementary was my favorite.

What Vince D said. Brett's Holmes was the best and most faithful adaption of the character and the stories and it's not even close. I did enjoy the contemporary spins they had to do to make this Sherlock series, which I would put second place.

reply

Yes... if you only count the first two seasons!

They were fantastic, then it went to Game Of Thrones hell.

reply

Yes.

Sherlock BBC, the set design, the wardrobe design, the writing especially, the character background, they made a series that is incredible and very hard to forget.
Even though I've watched Elementary's Sherlock and Sherlock Holmes the movies, I think the best character writing should go to Sherlock BBC. Benedict Cucumber - its his best role. But it's the writing that makes a good show. The actors just play it.

---- PS. I always laugh my ass off when I watch the chasing scene and off gets Mrs. Hudson. A moment later, when approached by a police officer: "Do you know how fast you were going? - Mrs. Hudson looks completely indignated: "Of course, not, I was on the phone!"

reply

I would have gone with this one up until that horrible last season, so instead I'll say Elementary...
