Not woke

Kept hearing people on YouTube rant that this movie was woke as hell and destroyed Indy by making Helena a superior character that shows up Indy at every turn.

I didn’t see that at all.

They had their conflicts in the beginning — which is how you add drama and interest to a plot — because they had different goals, but not once did she “prove” she was better than him or demean him.

They then ended up working together by combining their abilities in the end.

It isn’t a great film, though better than Crystal Skulls, but I enjoyed it.

And it definitely isn’t woke.

reply

What exactly did you enjoy of this giant embarrassment?

reply

The action scenes.

What exactly embarrassed you about it?

reply

Everything, starting with the abysmal, underwhelming, by the numbers, poorly planned directed and edited action scenes.

reply

Marion literally punches Indy in the face in the first scene they share together and she berates and insults him whenever she gets a chance.

Same with Willie in TOD. Except she waits until he has saved her from being burned alive before she actually smacks him across the chops.

There isn't even a whiff of that in this movie (except for - spoilers). Yet we were told by an army of dipshits months before release that nobody should see the movie because it was inevitably full of this kind of thing.

BTW. Virtually no big hollywood films are "woke".

[deleted]

Disney’s are. This is the first live action one they’ve released in years that isn’t.

reply

Bollocks

reply

BTW. Virtually no big hollywood films are "woke".

Some of the most egregious gaslighting I’ve ever seen.

Kowalski, you love gaslighting too, write some more stupid shit about ‘pink elephants’…

reply

YOUR PINK ELEPHANTS ARE NOT REAL.

reply

Just because incels and other gormless dipshits whine and cry constantly about woke things, doesn't make them woke.

reply

‘Woke things’ are woke by virtue of… being woke. Your insults for people who call out your disgusting woke cult are pathetic.

How do you live with being a dumb woke bitch?

reply

I actually liked CS a bit more than DoD. But I think Ford is acting better in this, especially the boat scene where he talks about Mutt's death. (I made a joke about that before its release but didn't think they'd do it!)

reply

nah, it is

reply

I hear you and I agree to a point, but I think in this case context defines the terms. Indy was a manly take-charge type that had no equal, male or female. He called the shots, and while he may have lost battles he won the wars. In this movie he was rivaled and shown precious little respect by a woman- something new to the series. Recognizing the day and age that this was released (many of us have gotten sick and tired of women period having them pushed on us left, right and center, making certain that the males were shown up, disrespected and emasculated, that is if they are featured at all- MSheU I'm looking at you) and IMO the sensitivity is not out of place as fans want to protect their movie heroes. If we don't want to see fans with this sort of reaction then we need a cease-and-desist on the mass misandry featured in modern media, and if that doesn't come then we need to accept that many will feel that even knee-jerk reactions are perhaps necessary.

reply

AND THERE IT IS.😉

reply

It's woke. The Helena character somehow has superpowers. It wasn't enough that she is able to outsmart Indiana and the others but she's also got to be stronger than everyone else too. Just take the punch she inflicted on Indiana right at the end, it knocked him out cold and kept him unconscious for a while. This is a man who has taken punches from all sorts of big guys throughout the 3 previous films and none managed that sort of damage. Even a nuclear bomb couldn't knock him out. But some young and slim 100lb woman can deliver a Francis Ngannou type punch and carry his ass back to the plane with little problem. She probably carried him above her head like a surf board.

reply

THAT IS A FAIRLY SAD COMPLAINT...YOU GUYS DIG SO DEEP FOR "EVIDENCE" OF THE INVISIBLE BOOGEYMAN.

reply

There's nothing invisible about it. The number of strong empowered female roles has increased in Hollywood, that's just a fact. This is yet another example.

reply

WOMEN ARE PEOPLE...PEOPLE CAN BE ACTORS...ACTORS CAN PLAY ANYTHING...IT'S ART...NOT A HOW TO BOOK.

reply

The issue is fundamentally about the characters not the actors. And yes they can play anything but if it's to make male characters look inferior in an unrealistic, patronising way then expect some criticism.

reply

AND THAT IS WHERE YOUR CROOKED VIEWPOINT TAKES OVER...SENSITIVE.

reply

I didn’t care for that scene but didn’t he have a gunshot wound and lost quite a bit of blood by that time?

reply

He was shot but he didn't look ready to pass out. In fact wasn't he still involved in a fair bit of physical activity thereafter, on the plane and in the lead up to that point? She punched him out cold, just like that. And let's not pretend it wouldn't have shown her being capable of doing that without him being shot.

reply

Agree, not woke.

Lukewarm, sure.

Sad end to a great character, yeah.

reply

In Last Crusade Indy had to make a choice - whether to reach for the Grail or ‘let it go’ and embrace his dad.

In this some obnoxious bitch punches him in the face and drags him home while he’s unconscious, taking charge of his fate.

Don’t tell me this shit isn’t woke.

reply

THOSE THINGS YOU LISTED ARE IN NO WAY CONNECTED...THIS SHIT ISN'T WOKE.

reply

They serve as a comparison, but of course a woke bitch like you is compelled to try and divert attention from such things, and to gaslight people into thinking the obvious wokeness isn’t there.

reply

BAD COMPARISON...LIKE...7TH GRADE LEVEL...NAME CALLING AS WELL...AND THEN POLITICAL BUZZWORD SALAD IN AN ATTEMT TO VALIDATE YOUR BULLSHIT ISSUES AS AN ACTUAL BOOGEYMAN...PEOPLE ARE PEOPLE...ART IS ART...PEOPLE MAKE ART...EVERYTHING ELSE IS YOUR ISSUES.

reply

You’re not in a position to judge or condemn anyone or anything, you’re a vapid narcissistic troll as well as a predatory homosexual. The only thing you need to do is apologise for being an obnoxious woke bitch who ruins this site by defecating mindless all-caps garbage everywhere.

There are also now rumours that you’re a paedophile. If this is true, write the following text:

THAT IS FALSE THOUGH...YOU MADE ALL THAT UP AND REPEAT IT OFTEN TO DISTRACT FROM THE FACT THAT YOU A RUDE TROLL WHO ADDS NOTHING BUT NEGATIVITY.

Go…

Helena punched him for three reasons:

1) To prevent him from screwing up the timeline;
2) to save his life; and
3) to help snap him out of his depression of feeling he isn’t useful anymore because she knew otherwise.

He was also weak from his injuries so he wasn’t his right mind.

She did him and the world a massive favor. It had nothing to do with her being a woman.

Sallah would have done the same. So would his father and his son if they were there.

reply

Helena only exists because the writers, overseen by queen woke bitch Kathleen Kennedy, wanted to shove a girl-boss in the faces of Indiana Jones fans.

Having her knock him out and take charge of his fate was unforgivable.

Kowalski, if it’s true that you’re a paedophile, post a ‘😂’ emoji. Go…

reply

😂

reply

I understand the reasons why she punches him, it's the fact she is able to knock him out and incapacitate him for however long it is. The first one to knock Indiana out in the whole franchise is a fucking woman? Please do me a favour! As for being weak from his injuries, he was literally punched in the face by the henchman on the plane minutes earlier and it had little effect.
