It wasn't that funny

I guess I was expecting something great since it's Marvel. This film is like Transformers, but where is the story? Even Transformers had a clearer story line. How did the mutation-activation process work exactly? I didn't get why the former soldiers would be turned into superheroes and then super slaves. Wouldn't they just be able to escape using their new powers? The wise cracking jokes and heavy CGI action started to wear thin somewhere in the middle. I gave it a 7 for being different, but Ryan Reynolds isn't a teenager anymore. He's 40. Is that why he became disfigured and forced to wear a mask? Hangover was a better farcical movie. That was more interesting. It had other characters that brought something to the story. I wanted Francis to end up in the oxygen chamber, but all of the set was destroyed for no reason. He's just another bad and belligerent bad guy. What was all that equipment there for anyway? Why do the bad guys have an army and what are they there to protect?

I found a few enjoyable but the script needed work. I think they wanted an army of mutants and it involved mind control.

Also I think him being older was turning the young hero on it's head as most superheroes are teenagers.

I felt some of the jokes fell flat

Some of the jokes falls flat, but some are funny enough. The story is all over the place. But it turned up better than what I expected, given it's from Fox, not Marvel.

At least, it was something new. The R rating definitely helps (also new in modern superhero movies). And it shows to the world that superhero genre is not done yet. There's still new ways to be creative instead of derivative.

I'm more worried about Deadpool sequels though. After the shocking effect wears off, if they keep making the same movies, I'm not sure they will be sleeper hits like this again.

I agree.

It was funny, but not FUNNY funny.

The problem is that this film thinks it's funnier than it actually is.

It was okay, but thinks that it's Trading Places or something.

The humor was alright but I think it tried *too hard* to be funny, and because of that some of the jokes fell flat. And honestly, there really isn't much of a story. What little story there is is jumbled and weak.

The strange thing is that I don't think it was supposed to be funny. I look at the character like an immature jerk that you're rooting for. I didn't laugh once, but the unfunny childish humour makes me feel like that's what the character is.

I feel like the TC and the majority of the people in this topic have never read comics with Deadpool or even played his game that came out before this movie was even filming. Deadpool is a one liner spewing mercenary who jokes about everything. I guess if you hadn't seen him before this you probably just don't care about him.
