finale predictions

Showrunners are hyping it up big time, suggesting something "terminal" for want of a better term

Meantime Showtime is already teasing another season

Any thoughts on what we can expect this coming Sunday?

I think Angela already knows enough; the bone-screws just confirm that Dexter committed crimes within her jurisdiction

But she'll obviously have mixed feelings if she discovers Kurt's collection. Gotta admit, Molly Park was a surprise to me (about the only surprise this season, which isn't necessarily a bad thing)

Actually, while it was obvious what Kurt was doing with the embalming, cabinet construction and fury over Chloe's ruined face, it was still creepy as hell to see the finished product(s) on display.

Could Angela let Dexter go? Would that be satisfying? (I don't think so)

reply

Ghost Deb giving Dex a handjob.

reply

My gut tells me Angela going to let Dexter go, with the reason being her friend was murdered by Kurt and Dexter can do things she can't.

I got a feeling there will be a big shocker ending - either Harrison kills Angela and runs off leaving Dexter alone or Harrison dies.

The final shot of the teaser for the finale shows Dexter in front of what looks like a police mugshot background.........

Whether or not this is something that actually happens in the episode, or is some sort of hallucination/dream of his remains to be seen.

It's entirely possible that they've filmed 2 different endings for this, based on whether or not they are going to keep it going.

reply

I'm liking your 2 different endings theory! Hoping for another season more than ever!

Definitely a dream sequence, I'd bet money on it.

The pins just show that Matt Caldwell's (likely) dead and that someone with access to Matt's remains is blaming Dexter. It's not enough for an arrest, and a one-hour finale cannot (or at least SHOULD not) spend too much time showing Angela collecting evidence.

I'm just hoping Showtime has allowed the showrunners to make up for the original finale. I kinda feel like they owe it to us.

reply

You lost. Pay up,

reply

I think Angela will let Dex go due to his victims being criminals like jekporkins says ,

Hopefully Harrison flips and trys to kill Dexter and fails . I'm not keen on the father-son aspect of the recent story .

reply

Here's the thing. Dexter has killed the wrong person before. He's also killed people that didn't really deserve to die. Like Matt. Sure, he was wild and crazy, and played chicken on a boat getting 5 people killed, but that's a mistake. It's not like he set out to murder those people on purpose. And, he surely didn't deserve to die for killing that deer. Similarly, Dexter almost killed that low level drug dealer after pricking him the neck with the needle. If the cops had not shown up, Dexter would have killed that kid too. Does that kid really deserve to die for dealing some pills? hmmm....it seems to me that Dexter's "code" allows for a ton of "collateral damage".
Angela will realize these things as well, and will NOT be on board with just letting Dexter walk. She swore an oath to upload the law, and Dexter's code is "reckless" to say the least. Yeah, I predict she tries to take him down, but in the end Harrison helps to break Dexter out, and they go on the run together next season. No more ice town, maybe they'll run to Mexico?

reply

Yes they deserved to die because they had both killed multiple people and hadn't changed their behaviour.

reply

sorry, not good enough. Angela is a police officer, and they don't work like that.

reply

The police 'world' is more nuanced than that. It's not all black and white out there.

reply

Angela is not like that. She knows the Dexter is reckless, and the lower level pill dealer that Dexter almost accidentally killed (using his "flawed code"), didn't deserve to die. Sure, he deserved to be put in jail for a long time, but death doesn't fit his crime. He didn't force those kids to buy his pills; It was their choice. Plus, he didn't know the pills would "kill" the kids. Cops like her do not forge relationships with vigilantes, and Dexter is definitely not someone she will be able to get behind.

reply

The real problem is that she has been turned into a perfect detective surpassing all the others that had worked on the bay harbor butcher case... magically she see these puncture marks that were not somehow missed by every other cop that worked a case where Dexter eliminated someone.

reply

If Angela isn't like that, why did she let the murderer Harrison go free?

reply

So, I just finished the finale, and it turns out I was completely correct. The entire episode focuses on exactly what I said.

reply

Yep. Pat yourself on the back.

reply

Yet she let the killer son go free? So she's a bent cop after all.

reply

The answer to this question is embedded in the title of the finale: ‘Sins of the Father.’ Dexter’s past has finally caught up with him, but that doesn’t mean that Harrison needs to suffer for it as well. Throughout his life, the boy has been forced to endure horrors and hardships because of his father’s actions. Angela, driven by her maternal instincts, liberate him out of that vicious cycle. She gives him a chance of a fresh start, where he doesn’t necessarily have to be hounded by his father’s ghost.

reply

Except the bit about the next season being about Dexter and Harrison going on the run together.

reply

I know it sucks. I would have watched 7 more seasons if that were true! :-)

reply

Everyone he killed deserved to die. Matt was a worthless little turd that would have killed more people in the future whether he had intent when he killed the people in the boat or not doesn't matter is someone is so reckless that they kill a group of people they deserve to die because their ignorance and poor choice was the cause of the deaths.

reply

yeah, and what about the wrestling coach Logan? did he really deserver to die by Dexter's hand?

reply

No, that was a point in the show where the writers really went off the rails. It was as if Dexter had suddenly become a completely new character because his action from that point on simply made no sense. It is amazing that the show runners managed to take their second chance at redeeming themselves from the previous shitty ending and made an even more ridiculous cluster fuck ending again. I guess the only good from it is that this time they will have no additional seasons possible to fuck it up any further.

Dexter didn't kill Doakes. Lila killed Doakes, after which Dexter kills Lila. It's been a while since I watched that episode but I thought Dexter was considering turning himself in at one point prior to Lila killing Doakes, then he was simply going to frame Doakes... but Lila on her own fixed the Doakes problem. If Dexter was going to simply kill Doakes he wouldn't have kept him alive to begin with.

reply

if dexter hadn't locked him in the cabin, doakes wouldn't have died. also, framing doakes is as good as killing him since there's death penalty in miami.

reply

No certainty that Doakes would have been convicted. And he still didn't kill him.

reply

...and Dexter killed Miguel Prado's innocent brother in season 3, so my point still stands regardless of the Doakes debate.

reply

Prado's brother was attacking Dexter with a knife. This is what is called self defense. Sure Dexter wasn't supposed to be in the place but then neither was Miguel's brother.

reply

Here's another one:
Clint McKay. Sure, he was a gambler and a grifter and an all-around nasty person, but he wasn't a murderer. Dexter even said it "Clint McKay doesn't meet the code", then proceeds to kill him anyway, to "protect" Hannah

reply

Oh, McKay the guy that tossed a 6 year old into a pond and stopped the mom from saving the kid... the kid would have died if some random fisherman hadn't showed up and saved the kid... Is that your definition of an innocent? He was a piece of shit that deserved to die well before Dexter eliminated him. Do we see all the bad things the people Dexter kills did? No, but every damn one of them got what they deserved.

reply

Also, the hillbilly Rankin who insults Rita (after her death) in front of Dexter. Dexter kills him in a fit of anger. Harry tells Dexter that it's the most human thing he's done after Rita's death.

reply

Dexter killed Miguel Prado's innocent brother in season 3

reply

Prado's brother wasn't innocent, if you watch the episode Prado's brother was trying to kill Freebo and when Dexter walked in Prado's brother tried to kill Dexter. This was self defense, not murder.
