About the first half of Die Another Day was pretty good. They should have leaned more into Bond coping with the aftereffects of torture and not tried to push the Jinx character so hard. It felt like one of those TV show episodes where they're trying to launch or promote another show, so they take the super-successful show and have the characters from the less-successful show guest star to piggyback their way to glory. They were pushing Jinx in DAD and it was kinda sad. Didn't help that Berry's performance was (in my opinion) sub-par. I'm not going to argue with her in the orange bikini, but everything else wasn't good.
But... Die Another Day had a lot going for it. Bond's capture was a neat angle (they should have paid out more), the hovercraft fight was good, the ice hotel was a great setting, and the sword fight was pretty boss. I even liked the spy car fight. Miranda Frost was a great character, too, and the diamond-studded henchman reminded me of classic Bond henchmen.
