Did you like the new Pennywise?

There, I said it.

The movie is above average, even OK I might say, not as good as the first one, but had some fantastic moments. The kids were fantastic, all of them, better than the originial, but the clown ...
Oh my, the clown.

I didn't expect he will be like Tim Curry, but he was way off. His speech was weird, also his accent was off.

Also, hard to understand the reaction of the director to shut down and critise the original Pennywise. FFS, THAT performance was the reason this saga became so HUGE.

Anyway, how did you find the new Pennywise?

Unfortunately the new Pennywise relies on a set of theater speakers and subs blasting your eardrums out in order to scare you.

I really liked him, but I saw the movie dubbed in French (all theaters near me only play movies dubbed in French, but it's not bad dubbing, it's actually pretty good), so I'll have to wait for the Blu-ray to see if the accent is off.

Skarsgård killed it!!!
The first attempt was a damn tv miniseries(not the medium for an Rrated SK novel)
I love Tim Curry and he did the best he could with what they gave him but that was not Pennywise
Skarsgård plays it much closer to the novel and I loved it

No, it contradicts the book.

The new pennywise was not that good as it takes away form the reason why the entity chose a clown as one of it's glamours. He looks like a spawn character and even though a child is not likely going to engage a clown in a storm drain, he is not going to engage with the new pennywise who looks like he wants to kill him from the start. However, I understand that the majority of people have bad taste, so..........

The new Pennywise is far superior to the miniseries version. I couldn't care less about CGI vs. practical effects. It was about delivery and what they did with Skarsgard was incredible.

I'd say the book -- bestselling book of 1986 and 2nd bestselling book of the 1980s -- probably had something to do with the "saga becoming so huge." I like Tim Curry's Pennywise better, but I like this version of IT better. Neither one even touches the book, which is probably my favorite of all time.

I found the new Pennywise...not great. Some of his silent moments are a bit creepy, but when he talks he sounds like Scooby Doo and just kills any fear factor once he starts monologuing. Tim Curry as a normal-seeming man in a clown suit was actually scary when he spoke, Also, the supernatural elements added to the new PW are overkill.
