Am I the only one who's baffled at this film having a cult following?

I mean, I understand if any of you guys, especially Rob Zombie fans, like this. It's just that the idea of having mean spirited unlikeable characters in a duology just made for an awful experience. Yes, the other Halloween sequels had tons of problems (hell, even Halloween Resurrection was garbage), but any of them didn't have laughable drama and have never done Laurie Strode and Dr. Loomis *THIS* dirty. I know it's an alternate timeline, but these movies were just so ****ing terrible. At least the 2007 remake of Halloween had a good concept that could've made for a better movie. Halloween II is just Rian Johnson-levels of bad.

Yes you are

reply

*sighs* Of course. I understand if you hate me for that.

reply

I don't hate you however you are the only one baffled by this

reply

Yeah but mostly because I usually prefer the original Halloween films even though the 8th was garbage

reply

I think it's because Zombie tried something very different. It's nihilistic, vulgar, and brutal. Some people look for that. I find it boring, but I've listened to horror fans who disagree. It's their thing I guess.

reply

That's the thing. The fact that everyone's ok with that kind of movie makes me so depressed.

reply

I understand that. Movies like 'A Serbian film' bother me. Unfortunately, there's a market for this. Fortunately, they're fiction. In the end, all you can do is ignore them.

reply

That's a good point.

I watched it again after seeing "Halloween Ends", and found new respect for it. Make no mistake, it is still a garbage movie. I'm pretty sure RZ did acid or mushrooms while writing the script. However, at least it is still about the same characters. He didn't just make up a new character because he was bored and wanted to make a different film.

reply

as terrible as Halloween Ends was, at least that movie didn't butcher Laurie Strode and at least tried to stay consistent to that character. Yes everything else in Ends made it worse, but it wasn't completely awful.

reply

It's the only movie I've ever watched in the theater that compelled me to ask for my money back.

reply

I'm so sorry that happened to you, man. :'(

reply

haha, it's ok. I got over it.

I prefer this Halloween to the first Rob Zombie movie. It has a viscousness to the kills and set a benchmark in the brutality that no Halloween movie has matched since.
