They messed it up with the Mandarin

I mean in the comics the Mandarin wasn't an actor and he was Asian. Why did they have to mess it up like that?

Marvel makes the biggest part of its international box office from China, which is the biggest foreign movie market in the world and will eventually be the biggest movie market, period.

China also has a strict censorship system and only allows a certain amount of non-Chinese films screen per year.

This is why Marvel adds extra scenes to its movies for China, doesn't use Chinese or Communist villains, or feature gay characters.

Would the Mandarin haven difficult to adapt no matter what? I mean the character if I'm not mistaken, was out of Yellow Peril tropes. He was already problematic when the Iron Man animated series was produced back in the '90s. For that, they made the Mandarin green skinned, and more "alien" in his physical appearance.

AND why did no one recognized him as he was a theatre actor???

I've read quite a few Iron Man comics since this came out and frankly Mandarin is one of his best villains. I also think they could have had him be done without him being Chinese. A guy with 7 rings of power who wants to take over the world does not have to be Chinese.
