Who really ruined this movie? Paul Feig or Sony?

Or maybe both?

reply

I blame Paul Feig more than Sony.

From what I've read he was given a good amount of freedom, the leaked emails mention that he had pitched this idea and Sony executives where quite pleased with it... they are both at fault... but he actually wrote, directed and executive produced it.

Whoever edited the picture who I assume was Paul Feig. He left out the entire emotional arc of the picture on the editing room floor, pivotal Erin and Gabby scenes were taken out so it didn't make any sense at the end. Still, it's a better movie that absolute garbage like Alien Covenant so all the hate was dumb. Also, there was no reason to shot this in fucking Australia, I don't think shooting in New York would have been more expensive, the budget would have gone down and there would have been more profit.

reply

Both. This movie shouldn't have been made without it being a sequel to the first two and even then, if it was still basically the same movie, it still would have been shit.

reply

The original ruined this movie, because you don't need to remake a movie that is fine the way it is.

reply

and yet it's been done to every classic film so your point is?

reply

So because it's been done to every classic movie that makes it ok? The point is the comment I wrote. Read it again. It's one sentence long. It wasn't needed. It's an insult to the original movie.

reply

It has not been done to every classic movie, not by a long shot, fortunately.

I see this as being the "Extreme Ghostbusters" (1997) to "The Real Ghostbusters" (1986 - 1992); a politically-driven platform to showcase people of assorted ethnic/cultural backgrounds (even gender) being treated as equals in the same profession.

Only difference is that "EGB" was a continuation to the original cartoon series and somewhat enjoyable. The 2016 film is not.
