Maybe I'm getting old but I find movies like this (also John Wick, Atomic Blonde, Gunpowder Milkshake etc) that seem to be trying so hard to be cool, it becomes distracting and lame.

Style over substance to an extreme.

I think it's especially tired and overplayed to have characters casually quipping in the middle of high intensity action scenes with death all around. I just don't find it clever anymore.

It's like Guy Ritchie plus imitation Tarantino with a splash of John Wick and extra cheese.

Sometimes it works, like in "Nobody" with Bob Odenkirk. Not sure what the special ingredient is. Maybe it's moderation.

You got it biscotti, it's moderation.
You put a bit of sugar in your tomato sauce and it makes it delightful.
You add too much, and you make indigestible crap like this.

No, I'm with you. I can see why it appeals to young people, though. Nobody worked because it did't try to make the character hip and funny.

Yeah, same for me. I was halfway through Bullet Train and thinking the try-hard style and dialog are annoying as fk.

I thought it was well done. Every major character had distinctive personality, motivations and back story, and they all tied together nicely.

I thought it is cool. A cool movie. One of the best movies of the year. Very entertaining and enjoyable. I loved the Thomas & Friends, Trains references and the surprise cameos. 😂

I think this type of movie is becoming a genre. I happen to like them. Sure, they're over-the-top and TOTALLY unrealistic, but are fun to watch if you like comedic action. As long as you don't take it seriously from they start, they're enjoyable.
