Fantastic S1E5 Spock Amock

Okay, now I am truly sold on this show. The S1E5 Spock Amock was absolutely TRUE Star Trek with such amazing character development, respect for the series' lore and music and the cast are just sublime and perfect.
The Nurse Chapel is just super pretty imo and acts so well. Spock was amazing as were Cadet Uhura and Capt Pike. The show stealers were Rebecca Romjin and La'an. There was the amazing set and humor reminiscent of exactly what will transpire with Spock in a decade with Kirk and the crazy but fun amazing music with the lirpa and the bells and shaking by the old lady etc. Right down to the fighting instrument AND slicing of the shirt and chest.
The Spock actor is really talented. I can see why he went back for Pike in The Menagerie. He's truly dedicated and devoted to his Captain Pike and even stronger to Captain Kirk and you can see it so well.

The episode had fun, humor, excitement with the body swap and very quickly telling the Captain instead of making it nonsensical under communicated trying to make silly jokes. Tpring did a good job.

The only thing is the ending wrapped up faster with 2 points they can improve on -
1. Capt Pike laughed and smiled when he found out their bodies were exchanged....this is because the writing and episode was considered "fun and light" so that was given to him as his reaction. Had the episode gravitas been dark and more drama with tension, he would've been freaked out with a sense of urgency and no smiles and laughs. In reality, Pike should've freaked out till Spock assures him it could be fixed. They should correct this part
2. The doctor and Chapel also smile and laugh and don't consider it an issue applying the paste etc. No one has a clue if it will reverse it. So they should've been serious and dark and worried.

The forced reactions because the episode is supposed to be "funny" is a bad excuse as it jars from reality.

But overall, this is campy and exactly how Star Trek was. Full of silly things and bright costumes and colors and new worlds and aliens like those funky ones in this episode.

I am loving the new Star Trek. Finally, after the last 2 misses (by a WIDE margin of ST:D [1.5/10] and ST:P [2.5/10]) they've returned Star Trek to the high place it belongs (ST:SNW [9/10])

Took you 5 episodes in to realize this huh? Well, welcome to the club. I knew it was great since the first episode and even called Nurse Chapel as hot from the get go. Didn't realize the episode title was similar as the TOS title "Amok Time".

At least I found the epic music.

The episode felt like an Orville episode since they were staying true to the Star Trek drama themes. I still don't get how as I mentioned in another post the director/writers that made trash like Discovery and soso Picard could come together then make this gem, just boggles the mind.

The reason the same people that make Discovery and Picard managed to make this is simple: They can. They always could. They chose not to.

Fun episode and Chapel really stood out. The actress is going to break out big with this role.

La'an finally came out of her shell a bit too. I hope they loosen her up more as the season progresses.

I was cautiously optimistic about this show since I couldn't stand Picard or Discovery, but I've been liking it more and more with each episode.

Ugh. They SWITCHED BODIES. That's right up with the cheesiest of conceits. The worst of Trek has body switching. SO LAME. It's like Three's Company levels of BS.

And NO OFFICER - not even an ensign - submits to an NCO for punishment, even a chief.

This show is losing my good will.

I enjoy this show, but that body-switching was pretty cheesy stuff.

I thought the body switching was going to be bad but it was not as they did not make it a farce. They used it as a character building exercise.
