Why couldn't the movie have a happy ending?

Personally, I thought the ending was too upbeat.
I mean, the movies titled 'Last Blood'....you sort of expect 'closure'.

Rambo has wiped out all the cartel (but is also heavily wounded) sits on his porch, looking all-but done for. They could have been a bit more ambiguous and left the ending open to interpretation....but no......As the credits start rolling...Rambo gets back on his horse and rides off into the sunset (leading the way to an inevitable sequel) which now feels quite hollow (even for a Stallone cash-grab franchise pic) in having the 'Last Blood' title.

I think it was meant as a goodbye and closure. Of course Stallone has also said he might do another one if the market was there. Maybe Rambo can't be happy?

To many movies play it safe with happy endings. They're over rated and are too common in the US.

So many movie scripts get alerted in the American film industry sad really.

I think it could have had a more meaningful ending;

* Gabriela survives but is hospitalized in a coma.

* After the cartel ambush Gabriela recovers and returns to the ranch to see devastation and deceased Rambo on porch.

*At Rambos funeral there are girls freed from the cartel laying flowers on his grave.

It would give some meaning to Rambos actions and sacrifice, as it was I found it all a bit sad.
