Anti-woke "critics" are getting behind this show just to bash Rings of Power

I've noticed this several times like for example who they were all behind game Ghost of Tsushima in order to set it up as a "good" choice opposed to The Last of Us 2 which they considered "woke" even tho the other game also had it's share of "woke" stuff.

Same is happening with House of the Dragon and Rings of Power, they are bashing non stop Rings of Power while propping up House of the Dragon even tho House of the Dragon is full of wokeness as well.

reply

People don't notice the wokeness in HOTD because it doesn't suck.

reply

It not sucking is subjective this show is just as woke maybe even more so than Rings of Power.

reply

I haven't seen rings of power, but, other than having a black guy play a part that was originally white, what's woke about HOTD

reply

Anyone who thinks "woke" is a legitimate criticism of a piece of media immediately gets the dunce cap pounded on his head. The word might have had meaning at one point, it has none now. It's an imaginary boogieman created by right wing grifters on youtube, accepted by idiots and closet racists.

reply

Hollywood brought this on themselves though. They now have diversity standards in films and television. Have you actually seen what it is? It's completely ridiculous what they expect in movies now.

I don't think it's a good idea to force writers and filmmakers to do your bidding and only produce material you agree with. It's only going to damage art in the long run.

reply

That is the most flagrant and ridiculous attempt to deceive I have seen for a long time. Anyone who thinks they can see this here elephant in the room is a dunce. There is no elephant because I just threw a blanket over it !

reply

Watch Star Trek Discovery and tell me that wokeness isn't a thing. The story is ancillary to the wokeness. I think "woke" is a term that is abused as well, but it does exist despite those who exaggerate it for clout.

reply

I hate RoP but I noticed the same thing. Also many of the show's critics never even mentioned Tolkien before now, they're doing it for views.

reply

What was woke about Ghost of Tsushima? I haven't played either game, but from what I heard, it was genuinely a good game, where as not only was Last of Us 2 bad, it was also woke as hell.

Neither House of the Dragon nor Rings of Power are particularly good, and House of the Dragon has its share of wokeness, from the black-washing of the Valyrians to the obnoxious message of girls being heirs to the thrown. But the writers at least tried to make something good, the acting is also pretty good, and so far it's at least not boring. Rings of Power is just boring as hell, makes no attempt to respect the source material, has mostly mediocre acting, and has woke pandering on top of all that.

reply

RoP is being "bashed" by plenty of what they call "legacy media" including the wokest of critics. Because it's abysmal.
HotD is a good show and deserves support. Also, every diversity hire's been pretty solid so far and I would say that Toussaint is great. Unlike RoP.
