Doctor Strange is not the Sorcerer Supreme....

This was by a distance the lamest point of the movie. I hate, hate hated it. I don't know why Marvel feel the need to do this. Doctor Strange is probably the most popular character still in the MCU and owned by Marvel, but he is a white guy I guess...? Which is why Wong has to be promoted to Sorcerer Supreme. Wong is still a boring character that I don't give a shit about, sorry.

I try to look at is as a positive though. When we were told that Wanda is more powerful than the Sorcerer Supreme, that meant she is more powerful than Wong, not Doctor Strange. ;)

I thought it was a very funny moment, and one that made sense. Dr. Strange was dead for five years, so of course someone had to step in as Sorcerer Supreme. Maybe in Shang Chi 2 he and Wong can have a cage match for the title?

reply

Why is he still sorcerer Supreme when Strange is back?

reply

Isn't a title one holds for life? Or until you lose it in battle? Has it ever been explained what the title is, or how it works?

reply

Fun fact: Strange did not become "Sorcerer Supreme" until well into his run, in the comics. And there have been several times over the years when he's lost the title. In fact, the current storyline has an interesting bit where a past version of Strange is called to the present, and when the Avengers ask for his help, he tells them they should contact the Sorcerer Supreme of the current time (not realizing *he* had gained the mantle).

Of course, people who have a fuzzy understanding of the underpinnings/concepts will rage on, in any case. Best to just let them.

reply

No, not best let them. Racists should be burned at a cross after some torture.

Merry Christmas

The old "it has happened in the comics" excuses....yawn,

EVERYTHING has happened in the comics, that what happens when you pump out dozens of comics a month for over half a century. Strange JUST became the Sorcerer Supreme at the end of Doctor Strange, and he loses the title before he even gets a sequel. See the difference?

Man, I hate disingenuous idiots.

reply

Oh, I remember you. You're not good at the whole "thinking" thing. Which is compounded by the fact that you're convinced you ARE. It's actually fascinating to watch. . .

Look, "everything" has absolutely Not "happened in the comics." But in this instance, the movies are pulling from well-established storylines, which makes perfect sense to those of us that Can think.

Don't worry about it. Critical thought ain't for you. Just back away from the keyboard, slowly. Maybe have somebody explain to you that your (pointless) question was answered, right before you wandered off on an irrelevant tangent. Then go have an ice cream, or something. Make you feel better.

reply

The well established story-line where Wong became Sorcerer Supreme? lol.

I am sorry, I see how foolish I was now. it makes so much sense the entire Doctor Strange movie was about Stephen Strange's origin story and how he became The Sorcerer Supreme, and before the sequel even begins he is no longer The Sorcerer Supreme.

reply

Good for you! Understanding you're foolish is a good start. Now work on your lack of brainpower, and then move on to your mistaken belief in your ability to process information correctly. Not sure how successful you'll be, but: work at it! It's definitely worthwhile.

reply

Dude, it's just an opinion about a movie. Get a grip.

reply

All gripped up, thanks. Maybe take your own advice?

reply

The difference between you and me, is that I talk about the movie, not about the person who is talking about the movie.

;)

reply

*That's* what you think the difference is??? You really are precious. Hint: You can go now.

That is 14 you/your's in 2 posts. See the difference now?

edit: I fogot "you really are precious. Hint: you can go now."

16 in 3.

It was an unnecessary detail clearly crammed in just to set up a story element of his next movie. It's annoying but that's part of the MCU baggage train.

reply

Wong is way more interesting.

reply

So the Sorcerer Supreme position was supposed to left vacant for five years on the just-in-case he might come back.

Yeah that's likely.

reply

You really want to start analyzing the logistics of the snap? Oh that will be really fun.

I mean that was a question that had been burning in the back of my mind this whole time....who was Sorcerer Supreme during the snap? Now it has been answered! Comic book movies are supposed to be fun, and Doctor Strange is fun because he is The Sorcerer Supreme. If he is just A Sorcerer, he is not very special is he?

reply

And?

He's still Doctor Strange and he will do battle with his evil self next year.

Don't go if it offends you so.

I'm sure Marvel will be devastated.

reply

I don't know why saying comic book movies are supposed to be fun leaves you so butthurt.

reply

I don't know why you're so butthurt Strange has been replaced by Wong as the Sorcerer Supreme.

Move on or at least find something new to cry about.

reply

Oh my bad, I don't know what I was thinking expressing my opinions about a movie on a site called moviechat.org.

Butt. Hurt.

reply

What does him being white have to do with it.
