I m not digging this

1. I doubt its gonna be r rated. People keep bringing Up Endgame to defend a PG13 rating. Endgame is nowhere near as Violent as people say. Thanos being beheaded was quick and Hawkeye stabbing that guy wasn't that violent, both look like death scenes you would seen in tv edited versions of movies and the thing is they are the actual scenes not edited. Quite Frankly I d trust SYFY more than Disney making a Blade show since their vampire Show Van Helsing is MA rated with blood and gore

2. Ali as Blade seems lazy instead of searching for a worthy successer to Snipes they pick. him because he won an oscar? I like him as an actor but i think they should have found somebody else

I don't like the choice either. He's obviously "made the right moves" behind the scenes as Hollyweird has seemingly chosen him.

No offensive to him, as he's an alright actor but he's such a weird choice as Wesley Snipes successor.

1. He's already older than Wesley Snipes was in his last appearance

2. No history of physically demanding roles/ Never done action so it's very likely fights will have to involve a bunch of quick cuts, CGI, & stunt doubles.

Frankly they might as well had brought Wesley Snipes back if they weren't going to get someone significantly younger like a Michael B. Jordan

I was hoping for some lesser known talent. They went out of their way to find Shang Chi why not find a fitting actor for blade? Hes a legit badass in the books. Todd Mcfarlene did the same with his Spawn Reboot by casting Jamie Foxx. I hate when Hollywood is lazy and will cast somebody cause they are relevant.
Ali is 45. And will be 47 when the movie hits theaters

Great actor but a little too old in my opinion, I never thought of Mahershala Ali as an action hero! And I’ve not seen Luke Cage but am aware he played a character in that too, is this upcoming Blade film part of the same universe?

I also wonder if they’re going for an English Blade as in the comics or will stick with an American one as popularised by the highly successful Wesley Snipes films, I think Mahershala Ali has the acting chops to pull that aspect off, no disrespect to Snipes.

reply

Agreed. Ali is a great actor and absolutely wrong for Blade.

I'll bet that it is better than B2 & B3 but doubt it will be as good as 1.

What are the odds that they have him kill a racist vampire cop? With his knee on his neck? A whole vampire police dept? sigh

You'll have to let me know. I swore off vampire movies long ago. Enough.

I like Mahershala Ali, but agreed he is a bit too old, they could have gone with other great actors like Yahya Abdul Mateen (I know he’s part of DC), Trevante Rhodes and John David Washington for the part

Snipes deserved a standalone-farewell movie.

He brought to the character a street toughness that I don't see any other actor being able to replicate... one of my favorite parts in his movies was when two cops yell FREEZE!! and begin shooting at him and he says: "Motherfucker are you outta yo damn mind?!"

If Stallone can still play Rambo (Last Blood), Harrison Ford can still play Han Solo (Force Awakens) and Indiana Jones (upcoming), Arnold is still The Terminator (Dark Fate)... Snipes still had one more in him.

agreed. R is more than just showing a quick beheading R takes movies creatively to a whole new level with what you can show
